[Recombinant VLP Vaccines Synthesized in Plant Expression Systems: Current Updates and Prospects].

Mol Biol (Mosk)

December 2024

Institute of Cytology and Genetics, Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, 630090 Russia.

The development and creation of a new generation vaccines based on recombinant proteins that assemble into virus-like particles (VLPs), as well as recombinant proteins in the form of nanoparticles, are promising directions in modern biotechnology. Due to their large size (20-200 nm) and multiplicity of viral antigenic determinants on the surface, VLPs can stimulate strong humoral and cellular immune responses. The main types of VLPs, as well as the features and disadvantages of the main expression systems used for their biosynthesis, are considered in this review.

Video Lecture Capture in Pharmacy Education: Insights From the Pandemic Experience.

Cureus

November 2024

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, QU Health, Qatar University, Doha, QAT.

The COVID-19 pandemic prompted an abrupt and widespread transition to remote learning, compelling higher education institutions to swiftly adjust to novel modalities. This study examines the post-pandemic insights and benefits of technology-enhanced learning (TEL), particularly archived video lecture capture systems, in facilitating undergraduate pharmacy education during and beyond the pandemic. Through a quantitative analysis of archival lecture views, we sought to identify critical elements that enabled a successful transition to remote learning, providing insights into sustainable educational methods for future disruptions.

The destructive aftermath of storms and typhoons in the Philippines more prominently affects isolated remote locations that lack methodical and strategic procedures to address the situation. One form of assistance provided during disasters is the construction of shelters, which can be categorized as emergency, temporary, or transitional, serving as protection during recovery periods. Cold-formed steel (CFS) is widely used, and its versatility in fabrication and configurability make it an ideal candidate for building emergency shelters that are lightweight, easy to assemble, upgradeable, and cost-effective.
