Engineered nanoparticles (NPs) have recently attracted a lot of attention after being tested in various agricultural plants. This paper reports the green synthesis of CeO NPs and SiO NPs from leaf extracts of Nyctanthes arbor-tristis. The physical characteristics of the produced nanoparticles were then determined using UV-visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), fluorescence spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Furthermore, the interaction effects of cerium oxide NPs (C1, C2, and C3) and silicon dioxide NPs (S1, S2, and S3) at 10 mg/L on blackgram (Vigna mungo L.) were evaluated. CeO and SiO NPs treatments enhanced the growth performance of the plants by causing a decrease in superoxide radical (SOR) and HO via improving antioxidant enzymes. These findings imply that the size and shape of CeO and SiO NPs provide defense against oxidative damage to the blackgram.

Advances in nanotechnology are able to open up new prospects for catalysis, particularly through the development of catalytic systems featuring precisely controlled size and distribution of metal nanoparticles. In this study, we prepared a model catalytic system, where monodisperse Pt nanoparticles, approximately 8 nm in size, were uniformly distributed onto CeO and SiO/Si substrates block copolymer (BCP) nanopatterning. To address the validity of these catalysts, we conducted a case study on CO oxidation in a continuous flow reactor, investigated the reaction kinetics, and compared our observations with those reported in the literature.

Syngas from Reforming Methane and Carbon Dioxide on Ni@M(SiO and CeO).

Nanomaterials (Basel)

Key Laboratory of Functional Materials Chemistry, Gannan Normal University, Ganzhou 341003, China.

The accumulation of greenhouse gasses (CH and CO) results in an increase in the temperature of the atmosphere. The conversion of greenhouse gasses into chemicals and fuels with high added value benefits not only the environment but also energy development. A promising and well-studied process is the reforming of methane, where CH and CO are converted into syngas (CO and H).

As consumer awareness regarding health and nutrition continues to increase, there is a growing demand for fresh, nutritious fruits such as green grapes. However, the short storage life and susceptibility of these fruits to spoilage lead to significant commercial losses. Currently, the plastic wrap method is commonly used to keep green grapes fresh, but this packaging effect is limited and not environmentally friendly.

Understanding the biokinetics of nanoparticles will support the identification of target organs for toxicological endpoints. We investigated the biokinetics of poorly soluble nanomaterials carbon black, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), cerium oxide (CeO), titanium dioxide (TiO), crystalline silica (SiO) in inhalation studies in rodents (the soluble amorphous silica was also included). By reviewing research papers on the inhalation of these substances, we collected physico-chemical data and elemental distribution to organs, urine, and feces.

In this study, a CRISPR-Cas12a-mediated dual-mode upconversion luminescence/colorimetric nucleic acid biosensing platform is developed based on UCNP@SiO/CeO (UNSC) nanozyme. Here, UNSC is conjugated with single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) probes used as both peroxidase-like nanozyme and upconversion luminescence donors. When no target nucleic acid is present, ssDNA-conjugated UNSC attaches on magnetic graphene oxide (MGO) via pi-pi stacking force, resulting in upconversion luminescence quenching (OFF) and no color change after magnetic removal of nanozymes attached on the MGO.
