I examined the actual situation of the desire to be thin among young Japanese women from the perspective of ideal body shape and actual measured body shape. In total, 90 young Japanese women were evaluated using a questionnaire (perceived body shape and desired body composition change) and assessments of sarcopenia (muscle strength, physical ability, and muscle mass). Participants were classified into the underweight (body mass index [BMI] < 18.5 kg/m, 74%), normal-weight (18.5 ≤ BMI < 25 kg/m, 20%), or obese (25 ≤ BMI < 30 kg/m, 6%) groups. The normal-weight group needed to gain an average of 2.2 kg to reach the objective ideal weight, but participants desired to lose an average of 4.5 kg. The underweight group needed to gain an average of 10.3 kg to reach the objective ideal weight, but participants desired to maintain their current body weight. Data on muscle mass for the diagnosis of sarcopenia showed low values for the underweight group. Most participants were classified into the normal-weight and underweight groups, but these groups showed a high percentage of women with a desire to be thin. The body shape of young adult women should be carefully considered not only as a health issue of thinness during the fertile period but also as a countermeasure to sarcopenia (low skeletal muscle mass) during the aging process.

Background: Although the importance of body weight in later life for brain health has been established, less is known about body shape and composition. This study aims to examine their associations with dementia and cognitive changes in older adults.
Method: Data were obtained from over 17,000 community-dwelling individuals aged 65-98 years, recruited in Australia and the US.
Background: Recent studies suggest that body mass index (BMI) may overestimate obesity and related cognitive health consequences in some populations due to racial differences in body shape and composition. Conversely, waist-to-hip-ratio (WHR) may better capture cognitive health, because this measure accounts for where body fat accumulates. However, few studies have compared the influence of BMI vs.

Accidental ingestion of foreign bodies frequently necessitates emergency department visits, with many cases requiring surgical consultation. Although most ingested items pass through the gastrointestinal tract uneventfully, orthodontic components, such as wires, present a specific risk due to their shape and material properties. This report describes a rare case of a 13-year-old male adolescent whose initial presentation suggested ingestion of a chicken bone.

Objectives: To determine body shape concerns (BSCs), sexual satisfaction, and associated factors in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
Methods: Using a structured and validated questionnaire, a cross-sectional survey was carried out at the Maternity and Children's Hospital in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Data were collected between August 2023 and June 2024.

Arabidopsis MYB transcription factor, AtDUO1 regulates generative cell body (GC) morphogenesis from round to semi and fully elongated forms before pollen mitosis-II (PM II). It was hypothesised that DUO1 might regulate morphogenesis through any of its direct target genes or components of the DUO1-DAZ1 network. The developmental analysis of plants harbouring T-DNA insertions in some DUO1 target genes using light and fluorescence microscopy revealed abnormal GC morphogenesis only in daz1 and daz2, but gcs1, trm16, mapkkk10, mapkkk20, tet11, and tip1 all undergo normal elongation indicating that these target genes have no important roles in morphogenesis or may be redundant.
