Vulvar lichen sclerosus et atrophicus is an inflammatory disease which can affect the pediatric age group, although rarely. Its prevalence is underestimated. It may have genital or extragenital manifestations. If left untreated, it may progress to complications which hamper the quality of life. The treatment of choice is topical clobetasol propionate. Here, we present a case of prepubertal vulvar LS, which was refractory to topical clobetasol but responded to topical tacrolimus application.

Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus (VLS) is a chronic autoimmune disease that often leads to vulvodynia, a debilitating chronic pain condition in the vulvar region. Treating vulvodynia in the context of VLS presents a significant therapeutic challenge due to the lack of standardized protocols. This article presents a case series of 20 women treated with amitriptyline for vulvodynia secondary to VLS, accompanied by an extended review of the literature.

Lichen planus is an inflammatory disease that affects the skin and mucous membranes, and although rare, it can manifest in the vulvar region. This case report describes Zoon's vulvitis or plasma cell vulvitis (PCV) with coexisting lichen planus (LP) treated with methotrexate. PCV is a rare, chronic, benign idiopathic inflammatory condition of the vulvar mucosa, characterized by a bright-red, chronic lesion of mucosa. Typically, it presents as atrophic, shiny, red plaques that can affect any part of the vulva and can spread symmetrically and bilaterally with the propensity of chronicity and gradual coalescence.

The immunohistochemical expression of various members of the claudin family has already been studied in pathological affections of the vulva whether to differentiate precancerous lesions from vulvar squamous cell carcinoma or in inflammatory conditions such as lichen sclerosus. From an oncological perspective, however, immunohistochemical analysis of claudin 18.2 protein expression has become increasingly clinically relevant nowadays since the impressive therapeutic benefits of the claudin 18.

Knowledge of its anatomy is limited among both the general population and healthcare professionals, and unrealistic expectations of normal proportions are common. Ignorance of anatomical variations can cause unnecessary anxiety.
