Vitiligo poses a significant challenge, particularly in treatment-resistant areas such as acral regions. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of combining fractional CO2 laser and microneedling with conventional therapies for non-segmental vitiligo in resistant areas. A randomized clinical trial with a paired design was conducted on 84 individuals with non-segmental vitiligo and treatment-resistant lesions.

Background: Narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) phototherapy promotes stability and repigmentation in vitiligo. No studies have compared targeted NB-UVB with whole-body NB-UVB in treatment of acral vitiligo.
Objectives: This randomized split-body study compared whole-body NB-UVB with targeted NB-UVB in inducing stability and repigmentation in acral vitiligo.

Narrowband ultraviolet-B (NB-UVB) phototherapy is the mainstay of vitiligo therapy. The response can be evaluated using the vitiligo area scoring index (VASI) and repigmentation grade. However, few studies used VASI to evaluate phototherapy response and there are no definitive data on the reduction of VASI.
