Evaluation of Concrete Structural Cracking Behavior Induced by Early Drying Shrinkage.

Materials (Basel)

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Hydraulic Engineering Intelligent Construction and Operation, Tianjin University, Tianjin 300350, China.

In this paper, the early drying shrinkage coefficients of different hydraulic cement mortars are calibrated through laboratory experiments for moderate-heat Portland cement (MHPC) and low-heat Portland cement (LHPC). By developing an improved mesoscale modeling approach, a 3D highly detailed simulation of concrete was generated, which incorporates the phases of mortar, aggregates, and interfacial transition zone (ITZ). The simulation result is in good agreement with the concrete early drying shrinkage experiment, exhibiting an error of less than 4.

Purpose: The primary objective of this retrospective study was to evaluate the survival outcomes of immediately loaded acrylic resin complete arch fixed implant-supported prosthesis (CAFIP) fabricated from the denture conversion protocol. The secondary objective was to evaluate the early implant survival outcomes associated with these prostheses.

Material And Methods: A retrospective chart review was conducted to study the clinical outcomes data of immediately loaded conversion prostheses and immediately loaded implants.

The detection and classification of damage to eggs within the egg industry are of paramount importance for the production of healthy eggs. This study focuses on the automatic identification of cracks and surface damage in chicken eggs using deep learning algorithms. The goal is to enhance egg quality control in the food industry by accurately identifying eggs with physical damage, such as cracks, fractures, or other surface defects, which could compromise their quality.

Deep oil reservoirs are becoming increasingly significant fields of hydrocarbon exploration in recent decades. Hydrothermal fluid flow is deemed as a potentially crucial factor affecting the occurrence of deep oil reservoirs, such as enhancing porosity/permeability of reservoirs, accelerating oil generation and thermal cracking, and modifying organic properties of crude oils. Understanding the interplay between hydrothermal fluids and crude oils would provide useful constraints for reconstructing hydrocarbon accumulation processes and predicting the distribution patterns of crude oils.

This study investigates the primary data collected at a used cooking oil (UCO) recycling facility to quantify its environmental impact when used as a rejuvenator in high content reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) mixes. Annual energy consumption data sets on transportation, storage, filtration, machinery, and purification are assessed using the life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology with the LCA software Simapro 9.4 to evaluate the influential parameters and processes in reducing emissions.
