Innovative biomaterials and tissue engineering strategies show great promise in regenerating periodontal tissues. This guidance provides an overview and detailed recommendations for evaluating the biological functionality of these new biomaterials in vitro, focusing on mineralization, immunomodulatory effects, cellular differentiation, and angiogenesis. Additionally, it discusses the use of in vivo experimental models that mimic periodontitis and scrutinizes methods such as osteogenic differentiation, immunomodulation, and anti-inflammatory responses to assess the effectiveness of these biomaterials in promoting periodontal tissue reconstruction.

Bacterial infections impede skin wound healing, and antibacterial hydrogels have garnered significant attention in the field of wound care due to their combined therapeutic effects. In this study, an intelligent, responsive AC-Gel@Cur-Au hydrogel was developed using temperature-sensitive agarose and pH-responsive chitosan as the structural framework, infused with Gel@Cur and AuNR. The AC-Gel@Cur-Au hydrogels demonstrated excellent mechanical properties, swelling capacity, tissue adhesion, and biodegradability.

The inherent heterogeneity, poor compatibility with polymers, and dark color of lignin limit its application in composites. In this study, original lignin (OL) was fractionated sequentially using four green organic solvents to obtain lignin fractions with different chemical structures. These well-defined lignin fractions were then blended with polybutylene succinate (PBS) to fabricate biocomposites.

The adoption of pure component models, such as iterative optimization technology (IOT) algorithms, is gaining significant interest in the pharmaceutical industry, primarily because of their calibration-free/minimal calibration requirements for process analytical technology applications. The IOT methods have recently demonstrated great potential for monitoring the quality of continuous powder mixtures by Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy. However, the dynamic conditions of continuous manufacturing processes may limit the effectiveness of such approaches.
