Antiarrhythmic and antifibrillation properties of bonnecor, a derivative of dibenzepin, were studied in comparison with ethmozine, quinidine and novocainamide, using various experimental arrhythmia models. Bonnecor activity was somewhat smaller than that of ethmozine, and much greater than that of quinidine and novocainamide in the mixed atrioventricular arrhythmia model simulated in aconitin-treated rats and the ventricular arrhythmia model simulated by two-degree coronary occlusion in dogs. Intravenous 1 mg/kg and oral 6 mg/kg bonnecor doses prevented ventricular fibrillation caused by acute coronary occlusion in rats, while ethmozine showed no such effect.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by the production of autoantibodies directed against nuclear and cytoplasmic antigens. SLE can be induced by various medications, such as hydralazine, procainamide, isoniazid, methyldopa, chlorpromazine, quinidine, and minocycline. Hydralazine-induced lupus syndrome was first reported in 1953, and only occurs in 5-10% of patients taking hydralazine.

Long QT syndrome (LQTS) is a severe cardiac disorder characterized by an abnormally prolonged QTc interval on an electrocardiogram (ECG), which can result in life-threatening irregular heart rhythms. The use of certain medications, particularly anti-arrhythmic drugs such as quinidine, sotalol, and amiodarone, can lead to acquired LQTS by prolonging the QT interval through the inhibition of specific ion channels responsible for heart repolarization, which may present symptoms like fainting, seizures, and sudden cardiac arrest. This systematic review, conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines, focused on analyzing the association between Long QT syndrome and drugs utilized for managing arrhythmias, involving a thorough examination of six selected studies from an initial pool of 68 articles.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a rarely reported arrhythmia in otherwise healthy newborn foals, with a single case of cardioversion using procainamide administration described in the literature. Two neonatal Thoroughbred colts were presented to an equine hospital because of an irregularly irregular tachyarrhythmia and poor latching when trying to nurse. History, physical examination, and initial diagnostic testing including ECG and echocardiography confirmed AF without structural heart disease.
