Unlabelled: The disposition and toxicity of lower chlorinated PCBs (LC-PCBs) with less than five chlorine substituents have received little attention. This study characterizes the distribution and metabolomic effects of PCB 52, an LC-PCB found in indoor and outdoor air, three weeks after intraperitoneal exposure of female Sprague Dawley rats to 0, 1, 10, or 100 mg/kg BW. PCB 52 exposure did not affect overall body weight. Gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) analysis identified PCB 52 in all tissues investigated. Hydroxylated, sulfated, and methylated PCB metabolites, identified using GC-MS/MS and nontarget liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry (Nt-LCMS), were primarily found in the serum and liver of rats exposed to 100 mg/kg BW. Metabolomic analysis revealed minor effects on L-cysteine, glycine, cytosine, sphingosine, thymine, linoleic acid, orotic acid, L-histidine, and erythrose serum levels. Thus, the metabolism of PCB 52 and its effects on the metabolome must be considered in toxicity studies.
Highlights: PCB 52 was present in adipose, brain, liver, and serum 3 weeks after PCB exposureLiver and serum contained hydroxylated, sulfated, and methylated PCB 52 metabolitesMetabolomics analysis revealed minor changes in endogenous serum metabolitesLevels of dopamine and its metabolites in the brain were not affected by PCB 52.

This paper demonstrates real-time, label-free, contact-based glucose sensor design of inset-fed Microstrip Patch Antenna (MSPA) genres: Slotted Microstrip Patch Antenna (SMSPA) and Through-hole Microstrip Patch Antenna (THMSPA). In SMSPA, multiple slots are created along the width edge of the patch. In THMSPA, a through-hole is introduced across the antenna including all the layers: patch, substrate and ground conductor of the MSPA.

The sex chromosomes contain complex, important genes impacting medical phenotypes, but differ from the autosomes in their ploidy and large repetitive regions. To enable technology developers along with research and clinical laboratories to evaluate variant detection on male sex chromosomes X and Y, we create a small variant benchmark set with 111,725 variants for the Genome in a Bottle HG002 reference material. We develop an active evaluation approach to demonstrate the benchmark set reliably identifies errors in challenging genomic regions and across short and long read callsets.

Fish oil supplements for dogs are used therapeutically for various clinical conditions. However, products may be variable in quality, potency, and stability. The objective of this study was to analyze eleven canine fish oil supplements from two time points (2010 and 2021) for the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) arochlors, minerals, and vitamins A and D, and to compare their compositions to label claims.

Optimizing energy resources is a major priority these days. Increasing household energy demand often leads to the deterioration of poorly sized distribution networks. This paper presents a method for energy compensation and optimization in radial distribution systems (ORDS).
