The correct assessment of body composition is essential for an accurate diagnostic evaluation of nutritional status. The body mass index (BMI) is the most widely adopted indicator for evaluating undernutrition, overweight, and obesity, but it is unsuitable for differentiating changes in body composition. In recent times, bioelectrical impedance analyses (BIA) have been proven as a more accurate procedure for the assessment of body composition. Furthermore, the efficiency of bioelectrical impedance vector analyses, as an indicator of nutritional status and hydration, has been demonstrated. By applying a bioimpedance analysis, it is possible to detect fat mass (FM), fat free mass (FFM), phase angle, and body cell mass (BCM). It is important to point out that phase angle and BCM are strongly associated with health status. The aim of this research was to examine body composition and the association between the phase angle and BCM in 87 subjects (14 males and 73 females), aged between 23 and 54 years, with BMIs ranging from 17.0 to 32.0 kg/m, according to sex. The BMI results revealed that the majority of the assessed subjects were within the normal range and had a normal percentage of FM. Our data indicate that a direct relation exists between phase angle and cellular health and that these values increase almost linearly. Consequently, a high phase angle may be related to increased BCM values.

Background: Premorbid sarcopenia, osteoporosis, and obesity are epiphenomena that affect survival and functional outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke. The effects of preexisting sarcopenia and/or osteopenia on long-term outcome after ischemic stroke were herein prospectively studied.
Methods: Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DeXA), bio-impedance analysis (BIA) and muscle ultrasonography (US) data were prospectively collected within the first 72 hours in 297 consecutive acute ischemic stroke patients (45.

Fiber reinforced polymer composites (FRPs) are essential for various industrial fields, but wrinkles inside will greatly reduce their mechanical properties. Full-matrix capture (FMC) is a popular data structure for ultrasonic phased array imaging in composites. However, such structure may lead to data redundancy and noise interference.

We have examined the structural and electron transport properties of a swallow-tailed ,'-bis(1-heptyloctyl)-perylene-3,4:9,10-bis(dicarboximide) () in thin films. A comprehensive analysis of material with the use of X-ray scattering methods evidenced the appearance of a new soft-crystalline mesophase that was induced by thermal processing of the swallow-tail PDI derivative. By combining electrical measurements with grazing-incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering (GIWAXS), we show that these morphological changes of thin films boost their charge transport in the organic field-effect transistor (OFET) configuration.

We report the pressure-temperature (-) phase diagram, the origin of the subglass dynamics, and the crystallization kinetics of the biobased polyester poly(ethylene 2,5-furanoate) (PEF), through dielectric spectroscopy (DS) measurements performed as a function of temperature and pressure. The phase diagram comprises four different "phases"; glass, quenched melt, crystalline, and normal melt. The cold crystallization temperature, , increases linearly with pressure (according to the Clausius-Clapeyron equation) as / ∼ 240 K·GPa and is accompanied by a small change in specific volume (Δ = 0.

The swift rise of hazardous dye effluent from diverse sectors continues to be a severe public health problem and a top priority for environmental preservation, presenting a significant obstacle to the current conventional water treatment systems. This study aims to develop an efficient and reusable approach for removing cresyl fast violet dye using mullite nanoparticles. Some factors such as pH, nano-mullite dosage, agitation speed, time, and others that affect the removal process were studied.
