Vitexin and isovitexin, as potential SKN-1/Nrf2 (SKN-1 is a homologous protein of mammalian Nrf2) activators, extended lifespan and promoted healthspan in . This study aims to elucidate the role of SKN-1/Nrf2 in vitexin and isovitexin-induced anti-aging and stress-resistance. Vitexin and isovitexin upregulated antioxidant gene and protein expressions, reduced ROS accumulation, and increased SKN-1 accumulation in the nucleus. They prolonged lifespan and clear ROS during stressful conditions in a -dependent manner. was also found to be necessary for these compounds-induced longevity under normal conditions. They were also witnessed to retard cellular senescence and scavenge ROS in senescent cells by directly binding to the pocket of Keap1 to promote the dissociation and activation of Nrf2. This study showed that SKN-1/Nrf2 signaling was vital to delaying ageing and enhancing anti-stress capacity with vitexin and isovitexin. The findings provide new insights into apigenin C-glycosides activating the SKN-1/Nrf2 pathway and demonstrate their potential as candidates for innovative strategies in chemoprophylaxis against ageing and oxidative-related diseases.

Flavonoids have been documented to have good antioxidant activities in vitro. In recent years, reports on the antioxidant activities of flavone glycosides, a subclass of flavonoids, have attracted great attention. Despite the wealth of information on this subject, the correlation between structure and function is not well understood.

Tea contains a variety of flavone -glycosides, which are important compounds that distinguish tea cultivars and tea categories. However, the biosynthesis pathway of flavone -glycosides in tea plant remains unknown, and the key enzymes involved have not been characterized. In this study, a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry method to determine 9 flavone -glycosides was developed, and the accumulation patterns of 9 flavone -glycosides in tea plants were examined first.

This study examined the levels of major flavonoids, nutritional components, total secondary metabolite contents, and antioxidant activities in 136 mung bean accessions and statistically analyzed the effect of seed weight difference on each. Vitexin and isovitexin were detected in all the mung bean accessions, with isovitexin being in a higher concentration regardless of seed weight difference. The contents of total protein and total starch were in the ranges of 22.

The flavonoid contents of different bamboo-leaf extracts and their relationships to antioxidant activity were investigated in this study by preparing nine samples using two commercially available bamboo-leaf extract products and seven bamboo-leaf extracts such as . A high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was established to determine seven flavonoid components (orientin, isoorientin, vitexin, isovitexin, tricin, luteolin and luteoloside) in these samples, which were separated using a SymmetryShield RP8 column (250 mm×4.6 mm, 5 μm) under gradient-elution conditions using acetonitrile as mobile phase A and 0.

Exceeding a healthy weight significantly elevates the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes (T2DM). A commercially available singular constituent, available as either purified vitexin or iso-vitexin, has been associated with a decreased risk of T2DM, but its synergistic effect has not been reported yet. Vitexin and iso-vitexin were extracted using an ethanol-based solvent from mung bean seed coat (MBCE) and subsequently purified using preparative liquid chromatography (Prep-LC).
