Nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) cell signaling pathway is essential for the progression and development of numerous human disorders, including cancer. NF-κB signaling pathway regulates a wide range of physiological processes, such as cell survival, growth, and migration. Deregulated NF-kB signaling resulted in unregulated cell proliferation, viability, movement, and invasion, thus promoting tumor development.

A phase-transited lysozyme coating doped with strontium on titanium surface for bone repairing via enhanced osteogenesis and immunomodulatory.

Hunan Cancer Hospital, The Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University, Changsha, China.

Introduction: Titanium is currently recognized as an excellent orthopedic implant material, but it often leads to poor osseointegration of the implant, and is prone to aseptic loosening leading to implant failure. Therefore, biofunctionalization of titanium surfaces is needed to enhance their osseointegration and immunomodulation properties to reduce the risk of implant loosening. We concluded that the utilization of PTL-Sr is a direct and effective method for the fabrication of multifunctional implants.

Evaluating remyelination compounds for new applications in opioid use disorder management.

J Addict Dis

January 2025

Departments of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine and Pharmacology, Penn State College of Medicine, Hershey, PA, USA.

Opioid use disorder (OUD) is associated with a reduction in brain white matter, affecting critical areas involved in decision-making, impulse control, and reward processing. The FDA has approved several drugs and natural compounds that enhance myelination, targeting oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs), directly enhancing oligodendrocyte (OL) function, or acting as cofactors for myelin production. This retrospective case study aimed to assess whether current clinical evidence supports the use of myelin-enhancing agents to promote remission in OUD.

Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most common endocrine malignancy, with a rapidly increasing global incidence. Scutellariae Barbatae Herba (SBH) exhibits significant antitumor activity; however, its mechanism against TC remains unclear. This study aims to explore the immunotherapeutic mechanism of SBH in treating TC through network pharmacology, bioinformatics analysis, and experimental validation.

Interferon-γ (IFN-γ) is a key mediator in antitumor immunity and immunotherapy responses, yet its clinical application remains restricted to chronic granulomatous disease and malignant osteopetrosis. IFN-γ effectiveness as a standalone treatment has shown limited success in clinical trials and its potential for synergistic effects when combined with immunotherapies is under clinical exploration. A particularly compelling combination is that of IFN-γ with Toll-like receptor (TLR) agonists that holds significant promise for cancer treatment.
