Rare earth elements and graphene composites exhibit better catalytic properties in energy storage materials. The introduction of rare earth oxide and graphene composites as functional layers into the separator to seal the "shuttle effect" formed by polysulfides during the discharge process has proven to be effective. In this study, we prepared CeO/graphene composites (labeled as CeG) by intercalation exfoliation and in situ electrodeposition methods simultaneously, in which CeO was encapsulated in large folds of graphene, which exhibited good defect levels (/ < 1) and its intrinsically superior physical structure acted as a shielding layer to hinder the shuttle of polysulfides, improving the cycling stability and rate of cell performance. The separator cell with CeG achieves an initial discharge specific capacity of 1133.5 mAh/g at 0.5C, excellent rate performance (978.5 mAh/g at 2C), and long cycling (790 mAh/g after 400 cycles).

Theoretical investigations using density functional theory (DFT) and wavefunction theory (WFT) have been performed to understand the geometric and electronic structures, chemical bonding, and structural transformation of 5d6s-metal doped triboron clusters MB (M = La, Ta, Re, Ir; = 1, 3, 5, 7). Global-minimum structural searches find that early-metal doped MB (M = La, Ta) clusters adopt a two-dimensional (2D) planar structure, with σ- and π-type delocalized molecular orbitals (MOs) consisting of M-5d and B-2p atomic orbitals (AOs) identified by chemical bonding analysis. In contrast, late-metal doped MB (M = Re, Ir) clusters prefer three-dimensional (3D) structures of near-pyramidal and triangular pyramid geometries, respectively, which exhibit enhanced stability involving σ- and δ-type M(5d)-B(2p) interactions.

This study aimed to synthesize MgFeLnO (where, Ln = Yb, Pr, Gd, and Nd) ferrite nanoparticles via the sol-gel process and investigate their structural, morphological, and magnetic properties for potential hyperthermia applications. X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) confirmed the cubic spinel structure for all samples. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images revealed nanometer-scale dimensions and nearly spherical morphology.

Conventional dual-signal electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensors feature high sensitivity and reliability, but the involvement of coreactants inevitably results in a complex configuration and shows reproducibility risk. Here, we propose an exogenous coreactant-free dual-signal platform, comprising luminol (anodic luminophore), CdSe quantum dots (cathodic luminophore), and CoO/TiC electrocatalyst (coreaction promoter). At different redox potentials, CoO/TiC induces water oxidation and oxygen reduction to produce OH and O radicals, which subsequently drive cathodic and anodic ECL emission, respectively.

With the progress of atherosclerosis (AS), the arterial lumen stenosis and compact plaque structure, the thickening intima and the narrow gaps between endothelial cells significantly limit the penetration efficiency of nanoprobe to plaque, weakening the imaging sensitivity and therapy efficiency. Thus, in this study, a HO-NIR dual-mode nanomotor, Gd-doped mesoporous carbon nanoparticles/Pt with rapamycin (RAPA) loading and AntiCD36 modification (Gd-MCNs/Pt-RAPA-AC) was constructed. The asymmetric deposition of Pt on Gd-MCNs catalyzed HO at the inflammatory site to produce O, which could promote the self-motion of the nanomotor and ease inflammation microenvironment of AS plaque.

The reduction of CO mediated by transition metals has garnered significant interest, yet little is known about the reduction of CO using f-element compounds. Herein, the reduction of CO to CO by tetravalent uranium (U) compound UO is investigated via matrix isolation infrared spectroscopy and quantum chemical study. Our results reveal that a stable carbonate intermediate OUCO () can be prepared at low temperatures (4-12 K).
