In this study the ability of the normal liver to tolerate normothermic ischaemia was assessed. The survival rate in pigs after 3, 6 and 12 h of normothermic hepatic ischaemia was 71, 46 and 0%, respectively. A patient who survived after inadvertently being subjected to 90 min of normothermic hepatic ischaemia is also presented. These findings suggest that the 'safe period' for liver blood flow occlusion could be extended beyond 1 h.

Developing effective therapies for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remains a critical global health priority. This study explored the novel antidiabetic potential of MCPS-3, a polysaccharide derived from L., and its underlying mechanisms in a high-fat diet and streptozotocin-induced T2DM mouse model.

Aim: This study investigated the role of RAP1B in hepatic lipid metabolism and its implications in obesity and associated metabolic disorders, focusing on the molecular mechanisms through which RAP1B influences lipid accumulation, inflammation and oxidative stress in liver tissues and hepatocyte cell lines.
Materials And Methods: Liver-specific RAP1B-knockout (LKO) and overexpression (OE) mice were generated and fed a high-fat diet for 18 weeks to evaluate systemic and hepatic metabolic changes. Comprehensive metabolic phenotyping included measurements of body weight, body fat content, activity levels, energy expenditure (EE), respiratory exchange ratio (RER), glucose tolerance test and insulin tolerance test.

AB001, a prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-targeted small molecule labeled with the in vivo-generating α-emitter Pb, was investigated in a phase 0 trial in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The primary objective was to explore the feasibility of γ-camera imaging to assess biodistribution and uptake in metastatic lesions. Three patients with progressive mCRPC and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status 1 were included, having prostate-specific antigen levels of 0.

Context: Patients with familial partial lipodystrophy (FPLD) have increased risk of hepatic steatosis and its complications for which there is no approved therapy.
Objective: To investigate the efficacy and safety of obeticholic acid, a farnesoid X receptor agonist, for reducing hepatic steatosis in patients with FPLD.
Design: Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over trial.
