[Effect of Chinese 1 genotype infections on brain iron metabolism in mice].

Zhongguo Xue Xi Chong Bing Fang Zhi Za Zhi

August 2022

Department of Health Inspection and Quarantine, Anhui Medical University, Hefei, Anhui 230032, China.

Objective: To investigate the effect of Chinese 1 genotype infections on host brain iron metabolism and brain damages.

Methods: Twenty C57BL/6 mice, each weighing 15 to 17 g, were randomly divided into the control and infection groups, of 10 mice in each group. Each mouse in the infection group was injected intraperitoneally with 4 000 tachyzoites of the TgCtwh3 isolate with Chinese 1 genotype, while each mouse in the control group was injected with an equal amount of sterile phosphate-buffered saline (PBS).

In acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) t(8;16)(p11;p13)/MYST3-CREBBP is a very rare abnormality. Previous small series suggested poor outcome. We report on 59 patients with t(8;16) within an international, collaborative study.

Morphokinetic analysis of cleavage stage embryos and assessment of specific gene expression in cumulus cells independently predict human embryo development to expanded blastocyst: a preliminary study.

J Assist Reprod Genet

June 2020

Gynecology and Obstetrics 1, Physiopathology of Reproduction and IVF Unit, Department of Surgical Sciences, S. Anna Hospital, University of Torino, Vis Ventimiglia 3, 10126, Torino, Italy.

To assess whether morphokinetic features at the cleavage stage together with specific gene expression in cumulus cells (CCs) may be used to predict whether human embryos are able to achieve the expanded blastocyst stage on day 5. Eighty-one embryos were cultured using the Geri plus® time-lapse system. Twenty-seven embryos progressing to the expanded blastocyst stage (BL group) were compared with thirty-five embryos showing developmental arrest (AR group) and nineteen reaching the stage of early or not fully expanded blastocyst (nBL group).

The outer cortical table of the parietal bone has been commonly used as a calvarial bone graft site for the craniofacial reconstruction. However, little is known about how removing the outer table may affect the function and structure of the inner table, and how the knowledge of the biomechanics and material properties of cortical bones will help the calvarial graft to better integrate into the biological and mechanical functions of its surrounding native tissues. In this study, it was hypothesized that there were significant differences in both density and material properties between inner and outer cortical plates in cranial bones.

Aim: To characterize the effects of acute spinal cord injury (SCI) on mitochondrial morphology and function in bladder urothelium and to test the therapeutic efficacy of early treatment with the mitochondrially targeted antioxidant, MitoTempo.

Methods: We used a mouse model of acute SCI by spinal cord transection between the T8-T9 vertebrae with or without MitoTempo delivery at the time of injury followed by tissue processing at 3 days after SCI. Control, SCI, and SCI-MitoTempo-treated mice were compared in all experimental conditions.
