Polyploidization plays important roles in the evolution and breeding of the common wheat. , the D-genome progenitor of the common wheat, provides a valuable pool of resistance genes to multiple diseases. Extensive studies focus on the exploration of these genes for wheat improvement. However, few studies have unveiled alternations on genome-wide expression pattern and histone modifications induced by whole-genome doubling (WGD) process. In this study, we conducted transcriptome analysis for the diploid and tetraploid lines using the leaf and root tissues. Both lines tend to display similar tissue-specific pattern. Interestingly, we found that TEs located in genic regions were depleted of the repressive histone mark H3K27me3, whereas their adjacent chromatin was enriched with H3K27me3. The tetraploid line exhibited higher levels of H3K27me3 in those regions than the diploid line, particularly for genic regions associated with TEs of the long interspersed nuclear elements (LINEs), CACTA, PIF/Harbinger, Tc1/Mariner and unclassed DNA transposon. Surprisingly, the expression levels of these TEs cognate genes were negatively associated with the levels of H3K27me3 between the tetraploid and diploid lines, suggesting the five types of TEs located within genic regions might be involved in the regulation of the ploidy-related gene expression, possibly through differential enrichment of H3K27me3 in the genic regions. These findings will help to understand the potential role of specific types of TEs on transcription in response to WGD.

Introduction: Genodermatoses refer to a group of heterogenous rare genetic diseases with cutaneous expression. Several genodermatoses present with multisystem involvement that can range from mild to life-threatening conditions leading to increased morbidity and mortality.
Objective: Given the paucity in the literature in the field of genodermatoses, especially in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and building upon the first established genodermatoses database based in Lebanon, this study aimed to decipher the genetic basis of two different types of skin-inherited diseases (androgenic alopecia and vitiligo).

In this study, whole genome sequence data of Ladakhi cattle from high altitude region of Leh-Ladakh and Sahiwal cattle from arid, semi-arid tropical region were compared. To gain a deeper understanding of the selective footprints in the genomes of Ladakhi and Sahiwal cattle, two strategies namely run of homozygosity (ROH), and fixation index (F) were employed. A total of 975 and 1189 ROH regions were identified in Ladakhi and Sahiwal cattle, respectively.

Purpose Of Review: To summarize the heterogeneity in the elite controllers population with the aim to identify a compatible profile with a persistent HIV remission, making distinction between persistent elite controllers, people with HIV (PWHIV) who permanently maintain virological control in the absence of antiretroviral treatment (ART), and transient elite controllers, PWHIV who eventually lose virological control. For this purpose, it is important to consider the mechanisms and biomarkers that have previously been associated with the maintenance and loss of the natural virological control.
Recent Findings: Transient elite controllers, before losing virological control, exhibit a distinct metabolomic, proteomic, microRNAs (miRNA), immunological and virological profile compared to persistent elite controllers.

In order to improve both resistance to lepidopteran pests and resistance to the herbicide imazethapyr in mainstay varieties of the Huang-Huai rice region, Sanming dominant genic male sterile (S-DGMS) rice was used as a platform to facilitate the pyramiding of functional genes and the replacement of the genomic background. Twelve novel lines were developed, each carrying a crystal toxin gene conferring resistance to lepidopteran pests and the allele conferring resistance to herbicide imazethapyr in the background of a mainstay variety. The genomic background of the 12 novel lines was examined using 48 specified molecular markers, and each line carried less than two polymorphic markers relative to the corresponding mainstay variety.

Introduction: Useful germplasm for citrus breeding includes all sexually compatible species of the former genera , and , now merged in the single genus. An improved knowledge on the synteny/collinearity between the genome of these different species, and on their recombination landscapes, is essential to optimize interspecific breeding schemes.
Method: We have performed a large comparative genetic mapping study including several main clades of the genus.
