Probiotics have brought many health benefits to the human body. However, their viability during gastrointestinal transit is a concern. Therefore, this study selected Mesona chinensis polysaccharide (MCP), an edible natural polysaccharide, and constructed a new type of microcapsules using MCP as raw material to prepare cross-linked calcium ions through a microfluidic system as an ideal intestinal targeting carrier to achieve precise delivery of bioactive substances.

Is Bone Cement Implantation Syndrome Actually Caused by Cement? A Systematic Review of the Literature Using the Bradford-Hill Criteria.

J Arthroplasty

January 2025

Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Virginia, 2280 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA, 22903, United States of America.

Introduction: Debate surrounding the use of cemented femoral components in hip arthroplasty persists. A proposed risk of cement fixation is bone cement implantation syndrome (BCIS), a phenomenon characterized by intraoperative hypotension, hypoxia, and/or cardiovascular collapse. The purpose of this study was to analyze the literature to determine if enough evidence exists to support a causal relationship between cement and BCIS.

Service Pharmacie, Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou, AP-HP, 20 rue Leblanc, 75015, Paris, France; Université Paris-Saclay, GRADES, Faculté de Pharmacie, 17 Avenue des Sciences, 91190, France. Electronic address:

The implementation of the Medical Devices Regulation (MDR) 2017/745/EU leaves manufacturers facing new requirements to certify their medical devices (MDs). Our objective is to accurately assess the impact of regulation on the availability of cardiovascular MDs in healthcare facilities. High-risk cardiovascular MDs appear to be heavily impacted by the regulation, with reclassification leading to mandatory clinical investigations.

We develop an algorithm that finds the consensus among many different clustering solutions of a graph. We formulate the problem as a median set partitioning problem and propose a greedy optimization technique. Unlike other approaches that find median set partitions, our algorithm takes graph structure into account and finds a comparable quality solution much faster than the other approaches.

The relationship between AutoNRT thresholds and subjective programming levels revisited.

Cochlear Implants Int

January 2025

Unit of Audiology, Department of Health and Rehabilitation, Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg, Sweden.

Objectives: The aim of this study wasto systemically examine the relationship between AutoNRT thresholds and subjective programming levels by controlling for individual subject variation, and further, to propose an alternative way to calculate the AutoNRT threshold profile for programming purposes.

Methods: The study was a prospective observational study. AutoNRT thresholds, T- and C-levels were recorded at six and twelve months after activation.
