This study presents an analysis of the impacts of the changes in bottom depth along the Guadalquivir Estuary on tidal dynamics. A realistic non-linear 1D numerical model, incorporating changes in both breadth and bottom depth, was employed to investigate the involved effects. The findings reveal a significant amplification of the M2 tidal wave towards the upper region of the Estuary, resulting from the gradual deepening caused by multiple dredging operations. The Estuary exhibits a pronounced tendency towards resonance, which is further enhanced by its deepening, resulting in reduced bottom friction and a smaller decrease in tidal wave amplitude as it propagates through the Estuary. The alterations in depth, particularly in breadth, along the Estuary play a crucial role in determining the magnitude of the resonant response of the M tidal wave.

Numbers of European glass eels (Anguilla anguilla) monitored along the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts of Europe currently serve as the main stock indicator in assessment of this critically endangered species. Spawning, however, takes place exclusively in the Sargasso Sea, several thousand kilometers away. The beginning of its complex lifecycle is characterized by a distant and lengthy larval drift, before the young-of-the-year reach the monitoring stations at the European coasts.

Aim: To describe the use of invasive mechanical ventilation core strategies, adjuvant treatments and the occurrence of barotrauma and prolonged ventilation in ICU patients with COVID-19 in Denmark, retrospectively.

Methods: All ICUs admitting COVID-19 patients in Denmark from 10 March 2020 to 2 April 2021 were invited to participate. All patients with COVID-19 who received invasive mechanical ventilation were included and data was retrospectively collected from electronic patient records.

In this work, we use the ansatz transformation functions to investigate different analytical rational solutions by symbolic computation. For the (2+1)-dimensional Calogero-Bogoyavlenskii Schiff (CBS) model, we derive a variety of rational solutions, such as homoclinic breather solutions (HBs), M-shaped rational solutions (MSRs), periodic cross-rationals (PCRs), multi-wave solutions (MWs), and kink cross-rational solutions (KCRs). Their dynamic is shown in figures by selecting appropriate values for the pertinent parameters.

Subterranean estuaries (STEs) are critical ecosystems at the interface of meteoric groundwater and subsurface seawater that are threatened by sea level rise. To characterize the influence of tides and waves on the STE microbial community, we collected porewater samples from a high-energy beach STE at Stinson Beach, California, USA, over the two-week neap-spring tidal transition during both a wet and dry season. The microbial community, analyzed by 16S rRNA gene (V4) amplicon sequencing, clustered according to consistent physicochemical features found within STEs.

Rationale: Anti-mitochondrial antibodies (AMA) M2-positive myositis can lead to severe respiratory failure. Traditional immunotherapies sometimes fail to address respiratory failure. Herein, this CARE-compliant case report described a patient with AMA-M2-positive myositis who recovered from ventilation with tracheostomy owing to immunotherapy-resistant respiratory failure to spontaneous breathing after modified lung volume recruitment (mLVR) therapy.
