A sequential photocatalytic strategy is developed via the merger of Cu(II)/Cu(I)-catalytic cycles for the oxoallylation of vinyl arenes via α-haloketones. The initial Cu(II)-photocatalyzed oxohalogenation exploits ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) to generate halide radicals from acyl halides utilizing air as a terminal oxidant and can be employed for the late-stage modification of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. α-Bromoketones obtained this way can be subsequently subjected to a one-pot Cu(I)-photocatalyzed allylation. This sequential photocatalysis proceeds in a highly regio- and chemoselective fashion and is inconsequential to the electronic nature of styrenes.

During the data collection of x-ray diffraction experiments with various detectors, background signals are often unavoidable along with the sample signal. Addressing the background during post-data analysis is not a straightforward task. In this work, we introduced an algorithm specifically designed to handle centrally symmetric two-dimensional x-ray diffraction data and processed the data using the Python programming language.

Granulomatosis with polyangiitis involving both ischemic and hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease: A case report and literature review.

Heliyon

December 2024

Department of Rheumatology, Key Laboratory of Myositis, Beijing Key Laboratory for Immune Mediated Inflammatory Diseases, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Beijing, 100029, China.

Background: Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) is a necrotizing small-vessel vasculitis associated with antineutrophilic cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCAs). GPA can have multisystem involvement; however, central nervous system (CNS) manifestations are uncommon. Here, for this first time, we report a rare case of GPA with both ischemic and hemorrhagic CNS involvement.

Boosting effect of ultrasonication on the oxygen evolution reaction during zinc electrowinning.

Ultrason Sonochem

November 2024

Zhongyuan Critical Metals Laboratory, Zhengzhou University, 450001 Zhengzhou, PR China; School of Chemical Engineering, Zhengzhou University, 450001 Zhengzhou, PR China.

In this study, the electrochemical and anodic behaviors of Pb-Ag anodes during ultrasound-assisted zinc electrowinning were meticulously examined. The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) occurring at the Pb-Ag anodes in a 150 g L aqueous HSO solution was studied in the absence (silent) and presence of ultrasonication (40 kHz, 100 % acoustic amplitude). Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), and zinc electrowinning tests were conducted to analyze the electrochemical behavior of the Pb-Ag anodes during zinc electrowinning.

OHDLF: A Method for Selecting Orthologous Genes for Phylogenetic Construction and Its Application in the Genus .

Genes (Basel)

October 2024

Center of Genomics and Bioinformatics, Guangdong Key Laboratory of Plant Molecular Breeding, College of Agriculture, South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou 510642, China.

Accurate phylogenetic tree construction for species without reference genomes often relies on de novo transcriptome assembly to identify single-copy orthologous genes. However, challenges such as whole-genome duplication (WGD), heterozygosity, gene duplication, and loss can hinder the selection of these genes, leading to limited data for constructing reliable species trees. To address these issues, we developed a new analytical pipeline, OHDLF (Orthologous Haploid Duplication and Loss Filter), which filters orthologous genes from transcript data and adapts parameter settings based on genomic characteristics for further phylogenetic tree construction.

The cell structure uniformity of microcellular polymers significantly impacts material performance, especially for low-porosity microcellular TPU used in chip polishing. The distribution of the cell structure of polishing pads directly affects the removal rate and process repeatability. Despite its importance, no quantitative method for evaluating cell structure uniformity has been reported in the literature.
