Objective: The holmium:yttrium-aluminium-garnet laser (Ho:YAG) has been the gold standard for laser lithotripsy over the last three decades. After demonstrating good efficacy, the thulium fiber laser (TFL) has been recently released in the market and the initial clinical results are encouraging. This article aims to review the main technology differences between the Ho:YAG laser and the TFL, discuss the initial clinical results with the TFL as well as the optimal settings for TFL lithotripsy.
Methods: We reviewed the literature focusing on the technological aspects of the Ho:YAG laser and TFL as well as the results of and studies comparing both technologies.
Results: studies show a technical superiority of TFL compared to the Ho:YAG laser and encouraging results have been demonstrated in clinical practice. However, as TFL is a new technology, limited studies are currently available, and the optimal settings for lithotripsy are not yet established.
Conclusion: TFL has the potential to be an alternative to the Ho:YAG laser, but more reports are still needed to determine the optimal laser for lithotripsy of urinary tract stones when considering all parameters including effectiveness, safety, and costs.

Ureteroscopic nephrolithotripsy is now being preferred over percutaneous nephrolithotomy for removal of kidney stones in children. Here, in this report, we have discussed persistent oxygen desaturation immediately after extubation in a two-year-old child who underwent Ho-YAG (holmium-yttrium-aluminium garnet) laser ureteroscopic nephrolithotripsy. The child developed bilateral pleural effusion after nephrolithotripsy and required continuous oxygen supplementation to maintain oxygen saturation above 95%, followed by ultrasound-guided thoracentesis.

Objectives: This study's aim is to evaluate the long-term quality of life and functional outcomes following cystoscopic excision of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and pelvic organ prolapse (POP) mesh extruded into the urinary tract in women.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed of all cases of cystoscopic removal of extruded mesh at our high-volume tertiary care centre between April 2013 and August 2021. Postoperative patient-reported outcomes were collected via questionnaires: Urogenital Distress Inventory Short Form (UDI-6), EQ-5D-5L Visual analogue scale, ICIQ-Satisfaction (ICIQ-S) and additional questions regarding postoperative sexual function.

Objectives: The lithotripsy efficiency (LE) in vitro study requires artificial or human stone samples (AS, HS). With the development of dusting lithotripsy, less ex vivo HS are available. We aimed to compare Thulium Fiber Laser (TFL) and Holmium:YAG (Ho:YAG)'s LE and define the most accurate LE parameter.

Objective: To describe the technique of transurethral harvesting of bladder mucosal graft using the Holmium:YAG (Ho-YAG) laser and describe the preliminary results from 7 cases where this graft was used for urethroplasty.
Materials And Methods: We performed a single-stage dorsal onlay urethroplasty using bladder mucosal graft in 7 patients with anterior urethral stricture. Transurethral harvesting was performed with the Ho-YAG laser.

Aim: The aim of this study was to analyze the outcomes of miniaturized nephrolithotomy (mini-perc) in the management of renal stones with a diameter smaller than 20 mm.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the records of 102 patients who underwent mini-perc between March 2015 and March 2020 in our department. The primary objective was the stone-free rate, but we also analyzed the retreatment rate, complications, hospital stay, operative time and reduction in hemoglobin level.
