Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to improve the cosmetic outcomes of thyroid surgery by developing a single-incision gasless trans-subclavian approach, which addresses certain technical issues found in traditional methods.
  • A review of 243 patients who underwent this procedure showed that it is both feasible and safe, with all surgeries completed without conversion to open surgery.
  • The technique resulted in minimal complications, a relatively quick surgery time, and favorable long-term outcomes, making it an attractive option for patients seeking a minimally invasive thyroid surgery with minimal scarring.

Background: Our objective was to assess the viability and oncological security of a gasless, transaxillary single-incision endoscopic procedure for performing total thyroidectomy and bilateral central neck dissection (TT + BCND). This study focused on patients diagnosed with bilateral papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC).

Method: Between April 2020 and November 2021, 22 patients with bilateral PTMC underwent single-incision, gasless, transaxillary endoscopic TT + BCND.

Department of Thyroid Surgery, The Affiliated Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital, Qingdao University, Yantai, People's Republic of China.

Background: The technical difficulties and trauma of remote access methods in endoscopic surgery (ES) for lateral neck dissection (LND) can be daunting for most patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) and surgeons. The purpose of study was to introduce gasless single-incision ES via a subclavicular approach (ESSA) and to explore its safety and efficacy for LND.

Methods: Between January 2022 and February 2023, we retrospectively reviewed 17 patients with PTC who underwent ESSA for LND.

Objective: We developed a novel method for thyroidectomy using a single-incision oral vestibular approach. To assess its advantages and disadvantages, we compared the perioperative parameters of this approach with those of transoral three-incision thyroidectomy and trans-areolar thyroidectomy.

Methods: In a study of 136 papillary thyroid carcinoma patients (2016-2018), precise thyroidectomy and neck dissection were conducted.
