Findings from Nigerian pathological series have supported international reports about the rarity of the occurrence of duodenal leiomyomas. More recently, case reports from the country have detailed interventional radiological techniques being deployed successfully in the control of massive bleeding from the gastrointestinal system. The article seeks to document these rare elements coming together in a Lagos, Nigeria-based center in the case of bleeding duodenal leiomyoma in an elderly gentleman which was successfully controlled by selective transcatheter arterial embolization.

Rationale: Inflammatory fibroid polyp (IFP), also known as Vanek tumor, is a rare, benign gastrointestinal lesion characterized by its inflammatory and fibroid histological features. IFP is often discovered incidentally during endoscopic examinations. It is exceedingly rare for an IFP to prolapse into the duodenum and results in incomplete obstruction of the pylorus.

Background And Aims: This pilot study aimed to evaluate safety and tissue sampling from subepithelial lesions (SEL) in the upper gastrointestinal tract with a novel electric motor driven endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS)-guided 17-gauge (G) size core needle biopsy (CNB) instrument.
Methods: An investigator-led prospective open label, performance and safety control study, including seven patients (female = 4, median 71 y, range 28-75) with a determined SEL (median size 30 mm, range 17-150 mm) in the upper digestive tract (stomach = 6, duodenum = 1) were eligible and later followed up 14 days after index procedure. All investigations were completed according to protocol with three FNB 22-G passes with four fanning strokes and two EndoDrill 17-G passes with three fanning strokes.

Background/aims: For duodenal subepithelial lesions showing a hypoechoic mass on endoscopic ultrasound imaging, the utility of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration and the frequency of histological types have not been the focus of previous literature. This study aimed to clarify this.
Materials And Methods: This prospective observational study enrolled 22 consecutive patients who underwent endoscopic ultrasoundguided fine-needle aspiration for duodenal subepithelial lesions with hypoechoic mass on endoscopic ultrasound.
