A description of the process of metal evaporation from liquid alloys at an atmospheric pressure has a practical value for both the smelting and remelting of their scraps. The quantities of volatile components that are eliminated in these processes depend on many factors of which the type of melting device, the method and conditions of the process performance, the alloy composition and the kind of applied atmosphere are of the greatest importance. In this paper, the results of the research on zinc evaporation from brass scraps containing 10.53 wt% Zn are presented. The experiments were conducted using the thermogravimetric method at 1080 ÷ 1240 °C in a helium atmosphere. In the research, the levels of zinc removal from copper ranged between 82% and 99%. The values of the overall mass transfer coefficient for zinc , determined based on the experimental data, ranged from 4.74 to 8.46 × 10 ms. The kinetic analysis showed that the rate of the analysed process was determined by mass transfer in the gas phase.

One of the methods for obtaining zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) is electrochemical synthesis. In this study, the anodic dissolution process of metallic zinc in alcohol solutions of LiCl was used to synthesize ZnO NPs. The products were obtained as colloidal suspensions in an electrolyte solution.

AISI 316L stainless steel is extensively used in various fields, including medicine. In this study, in order to improve antibacterial properties, reduce elastic modulus, increase hydrophilicity and delay corrosion on the surface of AISI 316L stainless steel pieces for biomedical applications, zinc and magnesium elements were used for coating. Zn monolayer, Zn-Mg bilayer, and Zn-Mg-Zn triple coatings were deposited on AISI 316L substrates using the thermal evaporation method.

Protein precipitation is widely used for sample preparation ahead of liquid chromatography. This step is required to analyze small molecules without the interference of proteins contained in the matrix. Organic solvents and acidic chemicals are the two most popular reagents used for this scope.

Heteroatom-doped carbon materials are widely used to improve the electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol; however, the underlying mechanisms driving this enhancement remain poorly understood. A major challenge lies in developing non-doped carbon supports with tunable intrinsic defect types tailored for metal-based catalysts. In this study, we synthesize a series of ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) supports with adjustable edge defect densities by varying roasting temperatures and employing a zinc (Zn) evaporation strategy to systematically investigate the impact of edge defects on methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) performance.

Optimization of the Zinc Deposition Interface by Sn Nanoparticles for Fast-Charging Zinc Metal Anodes.

School of Material Science & Engineering, State Key Laboratory of Separation Membranes and Membrane Processes, Tiangong University, Tianjin 300387, China.

The electrodeposition behavior of zinc metal anodes critically correlates with the electrode surface properties. The tendency for inhomogeneous deposition of zinc is more severe, especially under high current density. Herein, the surface structure of zinc and zinc deposition substrates is reconstructed with a uniform metal tin (Sn) coating via a simple evaporation method.
