Ceramic components require very high energy consumption due to synthesis, shaping, and thermal treatment. However, this study suggests that combining the sol-gel process, replica technology, and stereolithography has the potential to produce highly complex geometries with energy savings in each process step. We fabricated light-frame honeycombs of AlO, BaCaZrTiO (BCZT), and BaTiO (BT) using 3D-printed templates with varying structural angles between -30° and 30° and investigated their mechanical and piezoelectric properties. The AlO honeycombs showed a maximum strength of approximately 6 MPa, while the BCZT and BaTiO honeycombs achieved a d above 180 pC/N. Additionally, the BCZT powder was prepared via a sol-gel process, and the impact of the calcination temperature on phase purity was analyzed. The results suggest that there is a large energy-saving potential for the synthesis of BCZT powder. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the fabrication of complex ceramic structures with improved energy efficiency and enhancement of performance.

Under industrial conditions, efficient catalytic oxidation of Chlorinated volatile organic compounds is an important challenge, not only because of the poisonous effect of Chlorinated volatile organic compounds on catalysts, but also because of their high reaction temperature, which has an adverse impact on industrialization. In a recent article ( Ru/CeO ) [1], we developed a strategy for preparing a simple and efficient monolithic catalyst for the catalytic combustion of chlorobenzene. Ru/CeO was loaded on the industrial support cordierite by a Sol-gel method.

In this study, the rhombohedral crystalline pure phase BiFeO (BFO) of irregularly shaped spherical particles of ≈100 nm and energy bandgap of ≈2.31 eV are synthesized by sol-gel auto-combustion method and explored as electrode material for photo-assisted supercapacitor. The electronic structure studies revealed that the coexistence of heterovalent Bi and Fe elements accelerated the electrochemical redox kinetics and photo-assisted charge storage properties.

Exploiting solid powder fluorescence holds significant potential in diverse domains including medicine and forensics.
