2'-fucosyllactose (2'FL) is an important nutrient in human milk that stimulates beneficial microbiota and prevents infection. α-L-fucosidase is a promising component for 2'FL synthesis. In this study, a soil-oriented α-L-fucosidase-producing strain from ZS1 was isolated. was employed as a host for cloning and expressing the α-L-fucosidase gene (). The EntFuc was predicted as a member of the GH29 family with a molecular mass of 58 kDa. The optimal pH and temperature for the activity of EntFuc were pH 7.0 and 30 °C, respectively. The enzyme exhibited a strictly specific activity for 4-Nitrophenyl-α-L-fucopyranoside (pNP-Fuc) and had a negligible effect on hydrolyzing 2'FL. EntFuc could catalyze the synthesis of 2'FL via transfucosylation action from pNP-Fuc and lactose. The yield of 2'FL reached 35% under optimal conditions. This study indicated that EntFuc with a high conversion rate is a promising enzyme source for the biosynthesis of 2'FL.

The aim of this study was to compare the long-term effects of fractional carbon dioxide (CO) laser treatment with traditional therapy on surgical scars by analyzing and comparing observational indicators. A randomized controlled trial was conducted on 116 patients who received scar treatment in our hospital, of which 58 patients received fractional CO laser treatment, and 58 patients received injection treatment. The outcome measures comprised the Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS) and the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS).

Microbial compartment provides a promising approach for achieving high-valued chemical biosynthesis from renewable feedstock. However, volatile precursor could be utilized by pathway enzyme, which may hinder and adverse the cascade catalysis within microbial cell factory. Here, a customizable compartment was developed for pathway sequestration using spatially assembled cascade catalysis reaction.

2'-Fucosyllactose (2'-FL) is the most abundant human milk oligosaccharide (HMO) and has been approved to be commercially added to infant formula. Microbial synthesis from exogenous lactose via metabolic engineering is currently the major approach to production of 2'-FL. Replacement of lactose with cheaper sugars such as glucose and sucrose has been studied to reduce the production costs.

Introduction: Platelet transfusion has been therapeutically used in patients with thrombocytopenia and platelet function defects over the years. The use of advanced techniques may add value in assessing the quality of platelet products. The aim of the study was to assess stored platelet concentrates (PCs) prepared in blood banks for platelet indices, clot strength, and platelet function.
