Article Abstract

Recently, there has been growing interest in alternative measures of uncertainty, including cumulative residual entropy. In this paper, we consider a mixed system consisting of components, assuming that all components are operational at time . By utilizing the system signature, we are able to compute the cumulative residual entropy of a mixed system's remaining lifetime. This metric serves as a valuable tool for evaluating the predictability of a system's lifetime. We study several results related to the cumulative residual entropy of mixed systems, including expressions, limits, and order properties. These results shed light on the behavior of the measure and provide insights into the predictability of mixed systems. In addition, we propose a criterion for selecting a preferred system based on the relative residual cumulative entropy. This criterion is closely related to the parallel system and provides a practical way to choose the best system configuration. Overall, the present study of cumulative residual entropy and the proposed selection criterion provide valuable insights into the predictability of mixed systems and can be applied in various fields.

Introduction: SRS for the treatment of limited brain metastases (BM) is widely accepted, but there are still limitations in the management of numerous BM. Frameless single-isocenter multitarget SRS is a novel technique that allows for rapid treatment delivery to multiple BM. We report our preliminary clinical, dosimetric, and patient´s shifts outcomes with this technique.

Hemodynamic Valve Deterioration After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: Incidence, Predictors, and Clinical Outcomes.

JACC Cardiovasc Interv

January 2025

Department of Cardiology, Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland. Electronic address:

Background: Reports on the durability of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) prostheses are scarce and confounded by varying definitions and competing risks of death.

Objectives: The authors sought to determine the incidence, predictors, and clinical outcomes of hemodynamic valve deterioration (HVD) according to the Valve Academic Research Consortium 3 definition after TAVR.

Methods: We analyzed consecutive patients undergoing TAVR in the prospective Bern TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) registry between August 2007 and June 2022 for the incidence and predictors of HVD and performed case control-matching to compare outcomes according to HVD.

MAFLD as a predictor of adverse cardiovascular events among CHD patients with LDL-C<1.8 mmol/L.

Nutr Metab Cardiovasc Dis

November 2024

Department of Cardiology and Institute of Vascular Medicine, Peking University Third Hospital, Beijing, China; Key Laboratory of Molecular Cardiovascular Science, Ministry of Education, Beijing, China. Electronic address:

Background And Aims: Patients receiving statin therapy still suffer from adverse cardiovascular events. Metabolic (dysfunction)-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a newly proposed concept that shares common metabolic risk factors with cardiovascular disease. This study aimed to investigate the association between MAFLD and adverse cardiovascular outcomes in coronary heart disease (CHD) patients with LDL-C<1.

Introduction: Bladder stones (BS) in children are a rare condition and represent 1-5 % of all urinary tract stones. With advances in miniaturized endoscopes and intracorporeal lithotripters, percutaneous cystolithotomy has been demonstrated to be an effective, safe and quick technique, despite the longer operative time. This limitation may be overcome by a semi-closed-circuit vacuum-assisted technology (vamPCL), characterized by a continuous inflow and a suction-controlled outflow (ClearPetra®).

Unlabelled: Minimal residual disease (MRD) is the most important prognostic factor for B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) however nearly 20-30% of patients relapsed even when they achieved negative MRD, how to identify these patients is less addressed. In this study, we aimed to reassess the prognostic significance of MRD and IKZF1 in adult B-ALL patients receiving pediatric chemotherapy regimens. In the PDT-ALL-2016 cohort (NCT03564470), adult B-ALL patients were treated with a pediatric-inspired regimen; patients were redefined as standard (MRD-negative and IKZF1wild-type), intermediate (MRD-positive or IKZF1 deletion), and high-risk (MRD-positive and IKZF1 deletion) groups by combining IKZF1 deletion status and MRD.
