Background: Parsonage-Turner Syndrome (PTS) is a rare brachial plexopathy characterized by the sudden onset of pain in the shoulder girdle followed by upper limb weakness. PTS is frequently under-recognized or misdiagnosed as other more common neurological disorders presenting in a similar fashion, such as cervical radiculopathy which may require surgical intervention. Accurate diagnosis and prompt management implicate a good prognosis. Although electrophysiological studies are considered the most important for evaluating peripheral nerve injuries, it usually takes time, up to 3 weeks after the initial insult of the nerve for electromyogram (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) to display abnormalities. In the cases of PTS, especially when initial EMG/NCS and magnetic resonance neurography (MRN) results are inconclusive,  F-FDG positron emission tomography and computed tomography ( F-FDG PET-CT) may be useful in helping the early detection of muscle denervation.

Case Presentation: A 60-year-old right-handed Taiwanese woman presented with sudden onset of intense and sharp left shoulder girdle pain without radiating to the arm, followed by muscle weakness of her left arm in abduction and elevation 3 days after the onset of pain. A detailed neurological examination and EMG and NCS suggested the clinical diagnosis of left brachial plexopathy. MRN imaging revealed no significant abnormality.  F-FDG PET-CT showed increased uptake in denervated muscles (supraspinatus, deltoid, and biceps muscles). Treatment with oral prednisolone and physiotherapy significantly improved pain and muscle weakness.

Conclusions: We present increased  F-FDG uptake in denervated muscles detected by  F-FDG PET-CT.  F-FDG PET-CT may serve as an adjunct examination to evaluate PTS, which has been suggested previously but rarely reported.

Purpose: This study evaluated interlesion heterogeneity in prostate cancer using dual-tracer imaging (PSMA and FDG) and explored its predictive value for novel hormone therapy (NHT).

Patients And Methods: A total of 205 prostate cancer patients (23 biochemical recurrences, 68 metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancers, 114 metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancers [mCRPC]) who underwent dual 18 F-FDG and 68 Ga-PSMA PET/CT imaging were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 62 mCRPC patients received NHT.

Second primary malignancies are being increasingly detected in the setting of thyroid cancer, because of adoption of the advanced imaging modalities including PET/CT. Herein, we present a patient of papillary thyroid carcinoma who initially underwent total thyroidectomy with bilateral neck dissection followed by 131 I radioactive iodine therapy. A prostatic lesion was incidentally detected on 18 F-FDG PET/CT scan, which was intensely 18 F-FDG avid and also showed intense focal 68 Ga-prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) uptake on 68 Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT scan.

Objective: In this study, we retrospectively analyzed the imaging characteristics of dual-tracer Ga-prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) and F-flurodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) in metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa) patients. We analyzed the uptake modes of the dual tracers, explored clinical pathological parameters affecting the F-FDG uptake in the lesions, and evaluated their prognostic implications for prostate specific antigen progression-free survival (PSA-PFS).

Methods: A total of 41 mPCa patients who underwent dual-tracer PET/CT (Ga-PSMA and F-FDG) scans between September 2021 and January 2024 were retrospectively enrolled.

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the ability of dual tracer positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) using F-fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) and F-AlF-NOTA-octreotide (F-OC) in predicting neuroendocrine neoplasm (NEN) grade. The lesions that have been histologically confirmed were accurately located using both F-FDG and F-OC PET/CT.

Materials And Methods: For each lesion, the standardized uptake value (SUV) was measured, and tumor-to-background ratio was calculated by dividing the SUV by the SUV of background tissue at the two scans.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the use of folate receptor (FR)-targeted PET/CT imaging with [F]fluoro-PEG-folate for better preoperative assessment in advanced-stage epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), aiming to enhance selection for cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and reduce unnecessary procedures.
  • It evaluates the safety and tolerability of [F]fluoro-PEG-folate through vital sign monitoring and adverse event recording, along with quantifying disease burden using the Peritoneal Cancer Index (PCI) score from imaging and surgical findings.
  • The study was halted early after including eight patients, revealing that while [F]fluoro-PEG-folate was safe
