Background: Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb) is unique because the bacteria live intracellularly and hide in macrophages so that they can escape from phagocytosis. This is one of the factors that complicate the treatment of M.tb infections. Interferongamma (IFN-γ) is a compound that plays an important role in macrophage activation to control intracellular pathogens.
Objective: The purpose of this research is to analyze the concentration of IFN-γ in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of adult Tuberculosis patients (TB) after administration of multistrain probiotics from indigeneous Indonesian red passion fruit ( Sims.).
Method: The probiotics isolated from red passion fruit were introduced into Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cell (PBMC) adult TB patients who were undergoing Anti-tuberculosis Drug Therapy (ATD) category one at the Trosobo Primary Health Center (Sidoarjo, East Java, Indonesia), and the patients who were undergoing ATD category one treatment were willing to be involved in this study.Result: The probiotics isolated from fermentation-broth of Indonesian red passion fruit were able to increase IFN-γ levels in PBMC of adult TB patients.
Conclusion: The red passion fruit probiotics isolated can increase IFN-γ of adult TB patients increased from 0.82% to 23.17% after administration.

Background: Local wisdom food ingredients in North Sumatra, Indonesia, are a source of phenolics which have antioxidant, antihyperlipidemia, neuronal survival, and growth. Administering products with antioxidant properties can provide a supporting effect in preventing inflammation and neurodegenerative process.
Objective: The main objective of this study was to analyze the formulation of red palm oil ( Jacq), koja bay leaves ( L Spreng), and passion fruit seeds ( Sims) to improve lipid profile, antioxidant activity, Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), and lipase enzyme activity of Sprague-Dawley rats.

Smartphone-assisted visual assay platform provides novel insight for the real-time in-field quantitation of intended analytes in resource-insufficient areas. Herein, nitrogen-doped red fluorescent (FL) carbon dots (R-CDs) were developed for the timely on-site quantitation of Mn(VII) using the smartphone-assisted assay platform. Piceatannol (PIC), a polyphenol abundant in passion fruit seeds, is reported to promote fat metabolism. This study investigated whether PIC affects sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) expression and metabolic factors in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells. C2C12 myotubes were stimulated with PIC, and alterations in gene expression, protein levels, mitochondrial DNA content, and fatty acid levels were assessed using real-time PCR, Western blotting, and Nile red staining.
