Deaths from tuberculosis (TB) reached over 1.6 million in 2021 with 10.6 million people becoming ill. Multidrug-resistant TB, defined as the organism having resistance to at least isoniazid and rifampicin, represented 3.9% of new TB cases and 18% of previously treated cases. While new drug regimens continue to be developed and introduced to improve treatment of drug-resistant forms of TB, diagnostic capability to identify drug resistance lags woefully behind. While significant mortality benefits exist for these newer drug regimens, implementing them without proper drug resistance diagnostic capacity could lead to development of more drug resistances and exhaust these new therapeutic tools. Moving forward, the roll-out of new TB drugs and regimens must be paired with implementation of diagnostics to ensure judicious use of resources and the best chance for improving TB worldwide.

Background: Pathological tau accumulation is the primary constituent of neurofibrillary tangles and other tau aggregates seen in various neurodegenerative diseases collectively known as tauopathies. Recently, immunotherapeutic strategies focused on tau have shown promise in reducing tauopathy in both cellular and animal models.
Method: We previously used humanized yeast models to purify recombinant hyper-phosphorylated human Tau for mouse immunizations and the isolation of a high-affinity anti-Tau monoclonal antibody (mAb) with enhanced diagnostic and prognostic capacities.
Background: Dementia is a life-changing condition for patients and caregivers. Response to a diagnosis often includes grief, shock, and despair. Unfortunately, evidence demonstrates inadequate use of person-centered communication practices during diagnostic disclosure, which adds to psychological distress.

Background: The Sustainable Personalised Interventions for Cognition, Care, and Engagement (SPICE) program was developed to address an identified gap in access to high-quality integrated post-diagnostic rehabilitation for people with dementia and their care partners in Canberra, Australia. The multicomponent intervention aims to maximise quality of life (QoL) and independence of people with dementia by increasing engagement in everyday and meaningful activities and promoting care partners' physical and mental well-being.
Method: The SPICE program is a waiting-list study design delivered by a multidisciplinary allied health team over twelve weeks.

Background: Currently, the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease dementia (ADD) is determined based on clinical criteria, as well as specific imaging and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarker profiles. However, healthcare professionals face a variety of challenges that hinder their application, such as the interpretation and integration or large amounts of data derived from neuropsychological assessment, the importance attributed to each source of information and the impact of unknown variables, among others. Therefore, this research focuses on the development of a computerized diagnostic tool based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), to strengthen the capacity of healthcare professionals in the identification and diagnosis of ADD.

Background: Recognizing Alzheimer's disease (AD) early is essential for enhancing patient outcomes. Therefore this research focused on exploring indicators of AD by investigating the role of declining financial capacity (FC) in predicting objetive cognitive impairment (OCI).
Method: We analyzed participants without OCI in Mini-mental state examination (MMSE, Table 1) or Clinical Dementia Rating-Sum of Boxes (CDR-SB, Table 2) scores from the ADNI database.
