Efforts to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions have had limited success. For many, the hopes rest on new energy innovations to advance the energy transition process. In this paper, we develop a Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) base indicator system to steer the design of innovations in the field of energy transition innovations and, thus, improve social acceptance of these innovations. We propose a guideline for its application to assist R&D performing organizations and funding organizations in the design, selection, and communication of research proposals. The indicator system is intended to promote early integration of environmental and social aspects, support the formation of teams aware of the different responsibility aspects of innovation, and monitor progress in regard to relevant RRI dimensions.

We experimentally observe quantum confinement states in bulk MoS by using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). The band structure at the Γ̅ point reveals quantum well states (QWSs) linked to vertical quantum confinement of the electrons, confirmed by the absence of dispersion in and a strong intensity modulation with the photon energy. Notably, the binding energy dependence of the QWSs versus does not follow the quadratic dependence of a two-dimensional electron gas.

The intentional manipulation of carrier characteristics serves as a fundamental principle underlying various energy-related and optoelectronic semiconductor technologies. However, achieving switchable and reversible control of the polarity within a single material to design optimized devices remains a significant challenge. Herein, we successfully achieved dramatic reversible p-n switching during the semiconductor‒semiconductor phase transition in BiI via pressure, accompanied by a substantial improvement in their photoelectric properties.

Among the various solid electrolytes, argyrodite thiophosphates Li6PS5X (X = Cl, Br, I) stand out due to their high ionic conductivity, structural flexibility, and compatibility with a range of electrode materials, making them ideal candidates for efficient and scalable battery applications. However, despite significant performance advancements, the sustainability and recycling of ASSBs remain underexplored, posing a critical challenge for achieving efficient circular processes.

Discovering and utilizing the unique optoelectronic properties of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) is of great significance for developing next-generation electronic devices. In particular, research on Dirac state modulations of TMDCs under external strains is lacking. To fill this research gap, it has established a comprehensive database of 90 types of TMDCs and their response behaviors under external strains have been systematically investigated regarding the presence of Dirac cones and electronic structure evolutions.
