Insomnia disorder (ID) is a highly heterogeneous psychiatric disease, and the use of neuroanatomical data to objectively define biological subtypes is essential. We aimed to examine the neuroanatomical subtypes of ID by morphometric similarity network (MSN) and the association between MSN changes and specific transcriptional expression patterns. We recruited 144 IDs and 124 healthy controls (HC).

The objective to study the influence of microbiome on host fitness is frequently constrained by spatial and temporal variability of microbial communities. In particular, the environment serves as a dynamic reservoir of microbes that provides potential colonizers for animal microbiomes. In this study, we analyzed the microbiome of Hydra oligactis and corresponding water samples from 15 Hungarian lakes to reveal the contribution of environmental microbiota on host microbiome.

Background: Individual neurobiological heterogeneity among patients with tobacco use disorder (TUD) hampers the identification of neuroimaging phenotypes.
Methods: The current study recruited 122 TUD individuals and 57 healthy controls, and obtained their 3D-T1 images. Heterogeneity through discriminative analysis (HYDRA) was applied to uncover the potential subtype of TUD where regional gray matter volume (GMV) was treated as the feature.

The Hydra vulgaris bioassay is recognized as sensitive invertebrate test species for toxicity assessment of real-life environmental mixtures for enforcement and monitoring investigations. The purpose of this study was to characterize the intra-laboratory variability, study the influence of environmental variables (temperature, luminosity, inter-individual and day of analysis) on ZnSO toxicity, a reference model toxicant for hydra. The sublethal (effect concentration for 50 % of hydra-EC50) and lethal (lethal concentration for 50 % of hydra-LC50) were determined based on characteristic morphological changes for this species.

Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (RBD) affects nearly half of Parkinson's disease (PD) patients. However, the structural heterogeneity within the brainstem, which regulates REM sleep, remains largely unexplored in PD. Our objective was to identify distinct PD subtypes based on microstructural characteristics in the brainstem and examine their associations with the severity of RBD.
