For over a century, it was thought that the crystalline polymorph II of benzophenone does not possess a stable domain in the pressure-temperature phase diagram. With a combination of new experimental results and literature data, this case of crystalline dimorphism has finally been solved and it is shown that form II possesses a stable domain at high pressure and high temperature, even though its density is lower than that of form I, the stable form under ordinary pressure and temperature conditions. The phase diagram of benzophenone is a clear demonstration of the fact that to understand the phase behaviour of a chemical substance both the exchange of heat (due to the change in intermolecular interactions) and work (due to the change of volume at a given pressure) need to be taken into account.

Background: Evidence from animal models suggests a role for the organic ultraviolet filter benzophenone-3's (BP-3) on white blood cells (WBCs). However, BP-3's effect on WBCs in humans is unknown.
Materials And Methods: We used National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data from 2003 to 2016.

The synthesis and crystal structure of a monoclinic polymorph of 2-amino-5-chloro-benzo-phenone oxime, CHClNO, are presented. The mol-ecular conformation results from twisting of the phenyl and 2-amino-5-chloro benzene rings attached to the oxime group, which subtend a dihedral angle of 80.53 (4)°.

Benzophenone-3 (BP-3) is a common component of organic sunscreen widely used that can affect especially aquatic ecosystems health, including fish. To verify the biological effects of low concentrations of BP-3 on blood cells, one hundred and forty zebrafish () were used and then randomly divided into five groups: control group (water), solvent group (alcoholic water), and BP-3 group (BP-3 at 7 µg L, BP-3 at 70 µg L, and BP-3 at 700 µg L). The blood slices were stained with Panoptic stain and with Giemsa solution for the hematological analysis.

2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (dioxin; TCDD) is an environmental contaminant that elicits a variety of toxic effects, many of which are mediated through activation of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR). Interaction between AhR and the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-alpha (PPAR-α), which regulates fatty acid metabolism, has been suggested. Furthermore, with recognition of the prevalence of inflammatory conditions, there is current interest in the potential for inflammatory stress to modulate the response to environmental agents.
