Success of animal cloning is limited by oocyte quality, which is closely linked to reprogramming ability. The number of layers of cumulus cells is typically used to assess the quality of oocyte; a minimum of one-third of collected cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) are discarded as inferior oocytes because they have less cumulus cells. Melatonin, which has been recognised for its ability to sequester free radicals and perform multiple functions, has emerged as a potentially effective candidate for enhancing inferior oocytes quality and, consequently, embryo development competency.

Introduction: Nearly 5-7% of patients undergoing surgical management of acetabular fractures develop surgical site infection (SSI) which is one of the most important factors affecting the hospital stay, success of procedure and overall patient satisfaction. Systematic studies to identify the risk factors and their control could help to reduce the surgical site infection rate considerably. The present study assessed the incidence and risk factors related with SSI in patients undergoing surgical management of acetabular fractures at our center.

Neurodegeneration, a process of irreversible neuronal damage, is characterized by a damaged neuronal structure and function. The interplay between various proteins maintains homeostasis of essential metals in the brain, shielding neurons from degeneration; human transferrin (Htf) is essential in maintaining iron homeostasis. Any disruption in iron homeostasis results in the development of neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) and their pathology, mainly Alzheimer's disease (AD).
