Background: Functional MR urography (fMRU) has developed into an innovative, radiation-free option for assessing parameters of kidney function in pediatric radiology. The importance of fMRU in comparison to the standardized established nuclear medicine procedure (99mTc-Mercapto-acetyltriglycerine, MAG3 scintigraphy) is shown using SWOT analysis.
Methods: To assess the current state of research, a selective literature search was carried out in PubMed. Taking into account the current scientific status, the examination technique, preparation, and evaluation of fMRU are presented.
Results: As a result of the comparison with MAG3, fMRU is suitable for certain indications and represents an optimal combination of morphological and functional representation of the kidneys and urinary tract, especially in the case of surgical consequences.
Conclusion: fMRU has been successfully established as a diagnostic method for assessing the morphology and function of the kidneys in competition with MAG3 scintigraphy.

: The objective of the current research is to assess the benefits that come with antegrade ureteral stenting coupled with imaging techniques in children and also provide a new classification based on the ureter's morphological elements. : Between 2011 and 2024, 107 antegrade stent placement procedures performed in 71 pediatric patients aged 0-12 years who could not undergo retrograde double-J stent placement were retrospectively analyzed. According to the morphologic structure of the ureter, four categories were classified as normal, straight/slightly angled, S-shaped, and spiral-shaped.

Purpose: Our objective was to assess a deconvolution and denoising technique based on Legendre polynomials compared to matrix deconvolution on dynamic F-FDG renography of healthy patients.
Method: The study was carried out and compared to the data of 24 healthy patients from a published study who underwent examinations with Tc-MAG3 planar scintigraphy and F-FDG PET/MRI. Due to corruption issues in some data used in the published article, post-publication measurements were provided.

Background Ureteropelvic junction stenosis (UPJS) is the most common cause of clinically significant antenatal hydronephrosis. We compared separate renal function results obtained using technetium-99m-mercaptoacetyltriglycine (Tc-99m MAG-3) and technetium-99m-dimercaptosuccinic acid (Tc-99m DMSA) in pediatric patients with UPJS to evaluate the adequacy of Tc-99m MAG-3 scintigraphy and the necessity of additional Tc-99m DMSA scintigraphy during follow-up.
