Grouping of chemicals has been proposed as a strategy to speed up the screening and identification of potential substances of concern among the broad chemical universe under REACH. Such grouping is usually based on shared structural features and should only be used for the prioritization objectives. However, additional considerations (as well as structural similarity) are needed, e.

Background: The reformulation of commonly consumed foods towards less sugar, fat, and salt is an important public health strategy to improve food choices of consumers and thus address the high prevalence of overweight and obesity. Front-of-pack nutrition labels like the Nutri-Score may drive reformulation and support nutritionally favourable food choices. Breakfast cereals are of special interest in that they tend to be high in sugar and are relatively often targeted at children.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) serve as potential biomarkers for many diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative diseases and cardiovascular conditions. The portable and accurate detection of miRNA is of great significance for the early diagnosis, treatment optimization and prognostic evaluation of diseases. Herein, a photothermal/visual dual-mode assay for let-7a is developed utilizing oxidized 3, 3', 5, 5' - tetramethylbenzidine (oxTMB) as signal reporter.

Technetium-99m (Tc-99m) is the most employed radionuclide in nuclear imaging diagnostics worldwide for many diseases. The ideal physiochemical properties of Tc-99m (such as half-life and pure gamma energy) make it favorable for Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT). In this study, we aim to expand the utilization of Tc-99m radiopharmaceutical toward prostate cancer diagnostics which is currently no FDA approved products and has been intensively examined for a potential candidate.

Background: As high as 50% of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients experience "sundowning", which refers to an increased severity of neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS), including agitation, confusion, and anxiety, selectively in the evening. Although sundowning significantly influences the decision to institutionalize patients, few preclinical models of this phenomenon exist and the underlying neural mechanisms are unknown. Here, we establish a model of sundowning by phenotyping the sleep-wake cycle and anxiety and exploratory behavior at different times of day in an AD mouse model.
