Characterizing current fluctuations in a steady state is of fundamental interest and has attracted considerable attention in the recent past. However, the bulk of the studies are limited to systems that either do not exhibit a phase transition or are far from criticality. Here we consider a symmetric zero-range process on a ring that is known to show a phase transition in the steady state.

To assess potential variations in the absorbed dose between Chinese and Caucasian children exposed toF-FDG PET scan and to investigate the factors contributing to dose differences, this work employed patient-specific phantoms and our compartment model for calculating the patient-specific absorbed dose in Chinese children.Data of 29 Chinese pediatric patients undergoing whole-bodyF-FDG PET/CT studies were retrospectively collected, including PET images for activity distributions and corresponding CT images for organ segmentation and phantom construction. A biokinetic compartment model was implemented to obtain cumulated activities.

Terrestrial enhanced weathering (EW) of silicate rocks, such as crushed basalt, on farmlands is a promising scalable atmospheric carbon dioxide removal (CDR) strategy that urgently requires performance assessment with commercial farming practices. We report findings from a large-scale replicated EW field trial across a typical maize-soybean rotation on an experimental farm in the heart of the United Sates Corn Belt over 4 y (2016 to 2020). We show an average combined loss of major cations (Ca and Mg) from crushed basalt applied each fall over 4 y (50 t ha y) gave a conservative time-integrated cumulative CDR potential of 10.

Task Group 115 of the International Commission on Radiological Protection is focusing on mission-related exposures to space radiation and concomitant health risks for space crew members including, among others, risk of cancer development. Uncertainties in cumulative radiation risk estimates come from the stochastic nature of the considered health outcome (i.e.
