Background: Virtual reality and augmented technology are rapidly advancing and hold the potential to transform nursing education by offering a convenient, efficient, learner-centered way to educate students. A comprehensive and time-oriented prebrief is essential to the process.

Purpose: This review analyzes the status of scientific exploration regarding the prebrief and time allotments for virtual and augmented reality simulation.

Methods: Whittemore and Knafl's 5-stage method guided this integrative review. The authors searched 6 databases and selected 7 articles based on inclusion criteria.

Results: The findings from this review demonstrated objectives, a safe learning environment, orientation, preparation materials, and time in the prebrief; yet, inconsistencies persist in the virtual and augmented reality prebrief.

Conclusions: Defining a comprehensive and consistent prebrief is essential for high-quality simulation. A more standardized process, including time allotments, must be established for virtual and augmented reality.

Integrating augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) into dental surgery education and practice has significantly advanced the precision and interactivity of dental training and patient care. This narrative review summarizes findings from extensive literature searches conducted in PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase, highlighting AR and VR technologies transformative impact and current applications. Research shows that AR improves surgical precision by offering real-time data overlays during procedures, leading to better outcomes in operations like dental implant placements.

Remote sighted assistance (RSA) has emerged as a conversational assistive service, where remote sighted workers, ., agents, provide real-time assistance to blind users via video-chat-like communication. Prior work identified several challenges for the agents to provide navigational assistance to users and proposed computer vision-mediated RSA service to address those challenges.

The use of AR technology in image-guided neurosurgery enables visualization of lesions that are concealed deep within the brain. Accurate AR registration is required to precisely match virtual lesions with anatomical structures displayed under a microscope. The purpose of this work was to develop a real-time augmented surgical navigation system using contactless line-structured light registration, microscope calibration, and visible optical tracking.
