We construct Arnol'd cat map lattice field theories in phase space and configuration space. In phase space we impose that the evolution operator of the linearly coupled maps be an element of the symplectic group, in direct generalization of the case of one map. To this end we exploit the correspondence between the cat map and the Fibonacci sequence. The chaotic properties of these systems also can be understood from the equations of motion in configuration space. These describe inverted harmonic oscillators, where the runaway behavior of the potential competes with the toroidal compactification of the phase space. We highlight the spatiotemporal chaotic properties of these systems using standard benchmarks for probing deterministic chaos of dynamical systems, namely, the complete dense set of unstable periodic orbits, which, for long periods, lead to ergodicity and mixing. The spectrum of the periods exhibits a strong dependence on the strength and the range of the interaction.

The "oblique effect" refers to the reduced visual performance for stimuli presented at oblique orientations compared to those at cardinal orientations. In the cortex, neurons that respond to specific orientations are organized into orientation columns. This raises the question: Are the orientation signals in the iso-orientation columns associated with cardinal orientations the same as those in the iso-orientation columns associated with oblique orientations, and is this signal influenced by experience? To explore this, iso-orientation columns in visual area 18 were examined using optical imaging techniques.

Beet crops are highly vulnerable to pest infestations throughout their growth cycle, which significantly affects crop development and yield. Timely and accurate pest identification is crucial for implementing effective control measures. Current pest detection tasks face two primary challenges: first, pests frequently blend into their environment due to similar colors, making it difficult to capture distinguishing features in the field; second, pest images exhibit scale variations under different viewing angles, lighting conditions, and distances, which complicates the detection process.

We show that the theory of quantum statistical mechanics is a special model in the framework of the quantum probability theory developed by mathematicians, by extending the characteristic function in the classical probability theory to the quantum probability theory. As dynamical variables of a quantum system must respect certain commutation relations, we take the group generated by a Lie algebra constructed with these commutation relations as the bridge, so that the classical characteristic function defined in a Euclidean space is transformed to a normalized, non-negative definite function defined in this group. Indeed, on the quantum side, this group-theoretical characteristic function is equivalent to the density matrix; hence, it can be adopted to represent the state of a quantum ensemble.

Intestinal barrier damage causes an imbalance in the intestinal flora and microbial environment, promoting a variety of gastrointestinal diseases. This study aimed to explore the mechanism by which adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) repair intestinal barrier damage. The human colon adenocarcinoma cell line Caco-2 and rats were treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to establish in vitro and in vivo models, respectively, of intestinal barrier damage.

Nutritional status being the first line of defense for host plants, determines their susceptibility or resistance against invading pathogens. In recent years, the applications of plant nutrient related products have been documented as one of the best performers and considered as alternatives or/and supplements in plant disease management compared to traditional chemicals. However, knowledge about application of plant nutrient related products for the management of destructive fungal pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f.
