A total of nine new phenolic amides (-), including four pairs of enantiomeric mixtures (- and ), along with ten known analogues (-) were identified from the fruits of using bioassay-guided chromatographic fractionation. Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic and spectrometric analyses, chiral HPLC analyses, and quantum NMR, and electronic circular dichroism calculations. Compounds - are the first example of feruloyl tyramine dimers fused through a cyclobutane ring. The activity results indicated that compounds , , and - exhibited remarkable inhibition against α-glucosidase with IC of 1.11-33.53 μM, 5-150 times stronger than acarbose (IC = 169.78 μM). Meanwhile, compounds , , , , , and exerted moderate agonistic activities for peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR-γ), with EC values of 10.09-44.26 μM. Especially, compound also presented inhibitory activity on dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPPIV), with an IC value of 47.13 μM. Furthermore, the banding manner of compounds and with the active site of α-glucosidase, DPPIV, and PPAR-γ was explored by employing molecular docking analysis.

In this study an in situ forming gel for curcumin and piperine delivery is investigated as a long-lasting strategy in the local treatment of inflammatory and degenerative joint disease, such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Particularly glyceryl monooleate, in association with phosphatidylcholine and ethanol, were employed. Different ratios between excipients were tested, with the aim to obtain a liquid form suitable for subcutaneous injection, gaining a semisolid consistency in contact with biological fluids.

Europinidin is a novel anthocyanidin found in the petals of Plumbago europea that exhibits several physiological effects. Research was conducted to assess europinidin's cardioprotective efficacy in a diabetic and myocardial infarction (MI) experimental model. Rat was injected through the intraperitoneal administration of 45 mg/kg of streptozotocin (STZ), while MI was induced by subcutaneously administering 85 mg/kg of isoproterenol (ISP) at 24 and 48 h prior to the sacrifice procedure.

Due to the endocrine toxicity, neurotoxic, and reproductive toxicity to organisms, the sources and risks of brominated organic pollutants have attracted widespread attention. However, knowledge gaps remain in the bromination processes of emerging phenolic pollutants in plants, which may increase the potential health risk associated with food exposure. Our study discovered that light induced generation and accumulation of more toxic brominated organic compounds (Br-org) in lettuce leaves under the stress of acetaminophen (ACE) than that without light, as evidenced by an increase in C-Br bond intensity in FTIR analysis.

Rationale: Local anesthesia is a widely used technique for emergency wound closure, with lidocaine among the most commonly employed local anesthetics. Allergic reactions to lidocaine are rare, with anaphylaxis being even more uncommon.
Patient Concerns And Diagnosis: This report describes a 72-year-old male patient who presented with a right foot injury and underwent wound suturing under lidocaine local anesthesia.

An efficient hydrogen bond-mediated alcoholysis of primary amides was disclosed using diethyl phosphonate (DEP) as a catalyst. In this process, a wide range of primary amides and alcohols were tested and smoothly transformed to corresponding esters in moderate to good yields. This novel strategy features transition metal-free, broad substrate scope and a hydrogen bond-mediated one-pot pathway.
