Genetic diversity and population structure of cowpea mutant collection using SSR and ISSR molecular markers.

Sci Rep

Laboratoire Campus de Biotechnologies Végétales, Département de Biologie Végétale, Faculté des Sciences et Techniques, Université Cheikh Anta Diop, Dakar-Fann, Dakar, 10700, Senegal.

Cowpea is a seed legume, important for food and nutritional security in Africa's arid and semi-arid zones. Despite its importance, cowpea is experiencing a loss of genetic diversity due to climate change. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the genetic variability of 33 cowpea mutant collections using 20 SSR and 13 ISSR markers.

Enhanced mechanical properties of alkali-activated dolomite dust emulsified asphalt composites.

Sci Rep

December 2024

School of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment, Hubei University of Technology, Wuhan, China.

The dolomite dust-emulsified asphalt composite (DAC) with excellent mechanical properties was successfully prepared using alkali activation. The effects of different alkali concentrations and emulsified asphalt contents on the mechanical properties of the materials were studied. And the micro-mechanisms of its mechanical performance changes were analyzed through SEM and XRD characterization.

Legume content (LC) in grass-legume mixtures is important for assessing forage quality and optimizing fertilizer application in meadow fields. This study focuses on differences in LC measurements obtained from unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images and ground surveys based on dry matter assessments in seven meadow fields in Hokkaido, Japan. We propose a UAV-based LC (LC) estimation and mapping method using a land cover map from a simple linear iterative clustering (SLIC) algorithm and a random forest (RF) classifier.

Optimal CO intake in metastable water film in mesoporous materials.

Nat Commun

December 2024

Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Research Centre for Resources Engineering towards Carbon Neutrality, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, China.

The feasibility of carbon mineralization relies on the carbonation efficiency of CO-reactive minerals, which is largely governed by the water content and state within material mesopores. Yet, the pivotal role of confined water in regulating carbonation efficiency at the nanoscale is not well understood. Here, we show that the maximum CO intake occurs at an optimal relative humidity (RH) when capillary condensation initiates within the hydrophilic mesopores.

Ultralow k covalent organic frameworks enabling high fidelity signal transmission and high temperature electromechanical sensing.

Nat Commun

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Advanced Polymeric Materials of Shanghai, School of Materials Science and Engineering, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai, P. R. China.

As integrated circuits have developed towards the direction of complexity and miniaturization, there is an urgent need for low dielectric constant materials to effectively realize high-fidelity signal transmission. However, there remains a challenge to achieve ultralow dielectric constant and ultralow dielectric loss over a wide temperature range, not to mention having excellent thermal conductivity and processability concurrently. We herein prepare dual-linker freestanding covalent organic framework films with tailorable fluorine content via interfacial polymerization.
