Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) remains a significant global health concern with significant impact on morbidity and mortality. This narrative review explores adjunctive pharmacologic agents to be employed by emergency medicine clinicians during Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) in patients presenting with a TBI. Pharmacologic agents are commonly employed for the management of rapid sequence intubation and post-intubation analgosedation, hemodynamics, intracranial pressure, coagulopathy, seizure prophylaxis, and infection.

There was an unprecedented surge in admissions for medical stabilization of pediatric patients with eating disorders during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ontario. Eleven hospitals established an integrated rapid response model to ensure timely in-patient access for these patients. Open ventral hernia repair is one of the most commonly performed surgeries by general surgeons worldwide. In the case of complex incisional hernias, there are adjunct techniques that can help abdominal wall reconstruction surgery, such as type A botulinum toxin (BTA), whose injection results in muscle relaxation and growth of muscle fiber length, allowing fascial closure without the need for advanced techniques. We report a case of a male patient who underwent ultrasound-guided BTA injection in the abdominal wall and, five days later, was admitted to our emergency department with dysarthria, muscular weakness, dyspnea on small exertion, and constipation.

This paper aims to present a Statistical Analysis Software (SAS) macro %BBIplus, offering estimation and visualisation methods for the Bang's Blinding Index (BBI) for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) with various designs. We developed the SAS macro programme %BBIplus to facilitate the implementation of BBI. This user-friendly programme allows for easy and rapid estimation and visualisation of BBI across different scenarios, including pairwise comparison RCTs with two arms, double-dummy design RCTs with three arms and factorial design RCTs with four arms.
