A case of trapped popliteal vein, an exceptional syndrome, is reported in which the clinical appearance was that of a deep phlebothrombosis, compression being detected on phlebographic images. The etiology (combined congenital malformation and acquired muscle hypertrophy in this case) was revealed during exploratory surgery, which also allowed treatment by excision of the compressing agent without any direct vascular gesture.

Herein, we present 2 patients with lower limb ischemia caused by complicated popliteal aneurysms with thrombosis and distal embolization, compromising blood flow to the foot. In both cases, covered stents were first implanted guided by intravascular ultrasound and computed tomography angiography, respectively. After "trapping" the thrombi, mechanical thrombectomy or further stent implantations were performed, "fixing" the remaining lesions and preventing embolization.

Background: Complications of vascular closure devices mainly include bleeding, vascular injury, and trapped device that cannot be removed percutaneously. Claudication of the young patient is a very rare symptom for orthopaedic surgeons and it is often overlooked. We report a rare case of popliteal artery entrapment syndrome (PAES), discovered during a vascular claudication following post-traumatic anterior instability of the knee. The diagnosis was confirmed by CT angiography which showed a PAES, with a pathway in the inter-condylar notch.

Impalement injury is said to occur when a blunt force causes a long object to penetrate a body part resulting in retention of the object in situ. We report two unusual cases of impalement from rural India: one, chest impalement by a hunting spear and the other, an extremity impalement by a rotatory tiller blade. Thoracic impalement injuries are very rare, and there is only one other published report of chest impalement by a spear (trident) in the modern era.

Introduction: Popliteal entrapment syndrome results from extrinsic compression of the popliteal artery by the surrounding musculotendinous structures and is a rare cause of limb ischaemia. The purpose of this report is to highlight potential mistakes in the management of popliteal entrapment.
Report: In 2000, a 23 year old man underwent a popliteal to popliteal artery bypass surgery for what was initially diagnosed as a traumatic popliteal artery thrombosis.
