A new, simple, and efficient method for synthesis of α-benzyl amino coumarin and its derivatives (1-24) is described a one-pot, three-component condensation of aromatic aldehydes, amine, and 4-hydroxycoumarin under green chemistry conditions: water as a solvent and BaSiO nanoparticles as catalyst. BaSiO nanoparticles and all synthesized derivatives were characterized by multiple methods including; XRD, NMR, and FE-SEM. This method which gives higher yields, is also less expensive, and more environmentally friendly compared with other methods in the literature. physicochemical and pharmacokinetics analyses were done on all synthesized compounds and indicated that these α-benzyl amino coumarins would be effective scaffolds for the future development of chemotherapeutic agents.

Fluorescent probes are widely used in cellular imaging and disease diagnosis. Acting as substitute carriers, fluorescent probes can also be used to help transport drugs within cells. In this study, commonly used fluorophores, TAMRA (5-carboxytetramethylrhodamine), PBA (1-pyrenebutyric acid), NBD (nitrobenzoxadiazole), OG (Oregon Green), and CF (5-carboxyfluorescein) were conjugated with the dipeptide β-Ala-Lys, the peptide moiety of the well-established peptide transporter substrate β-Ala-Lys(AMCA) (AMCA: 7-amino-4-methyl-coumarin-3-acetic acid) by modifying it with respect to side-chain length and functional end groups.

Polymyxins are last-resort antimicrobial peptides administered clinically against multi-drug resistant bacteria, specifically in the case of Gram-negative species. However, an increasing number of these pathogens employ a defense strategy that involves a relay of enzymes encoded by the pmrE (ugd) loci and the arnBCDTEF operon. The pathway modifies the lipid-A component of the outer membrane (OM) lipopolysaccharide (LPS) by adding a 4-amino-4-deoxy-l-arabinose (L-Ara4N) headgroup, which renders polymyxins ineffective.

Intravenous administration of branched-chain amino acid (BCAA)-enriched solution is contraindicated in patients with severe chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, there have been no reports on its risks in patients with mild-to-moderate CKD. In this study, we compared the incidence of acidosis between patients with mild-to-moderate CKD (estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] ≥30 and <60 mL/min/1.

Electronic address:

Microplastics (MPs) are ubiquitous environmental pollutants that have garnered significant attention due to their small particle size, resistance to degradation and large specific surface area, which makes it easy to adsorb various pollutants, particularly heavy metals. Arsenic (As), a common metal poisons, poses significant risks due to its widespread industrial use. When MPs and As co-exist in the environment, they can exert combined toxic effects on organisms, affecting various systems, including the nervous system.

PNPLA3-I148M genotype is the strongest predictive single-nucleotide polymorphism for liver fat. We examine whether PNPLA3-I148M modifies associations between oxidative gaseous air pollutant exposure (O) with i) liver fat and ii) multi-omics profiles of miRNAs and metabolites linked to liver fat. Participants were 69 young adults (17-22 years) from the Meta-AIR cohort.
