We report the DNA-binding properties of three porphyrins with peripheral thienyl substituents (, and ). The binding capacity of each porphyrin with DNA was determined by UV-Vis and steady-state fluorescence emission spectroscopy combined with molecular docking calculations. The results suggest that the interaction of these compounds probably occurs via secondary interactions via external grooves (minor grooves) around the DNA macromolecule. Moreover, porphyrins containing peripheral Pd(II) or Pt(II) complexes ( and ) were able to promote photo-damage in the DNA.
In this work, the structural and photophysical characterization of statistical co-crystals based on two homoleptic Pt(II) and Pd(II) complexes as well as their mechano-responsive properties are reported. Ligand-dominated H⋯F bonds, which reinforce metal-metal interactions in the crystalline state, support emission from MMLCT states. All co-crystals show a distinct red-shift upon grinding, showcasing their inherent mechano-responsive characteristics stemming from (hetero-)bimetallic contacts.
A systematic theoretical study was performed on the electrophilic and nucleophilic properties of Group 10 square-planar metal compounds [M(SCNEt)] (M = Ni , Pd , and Pt ) and their complexes. The nucleophilic metal center and coordinated sulfur atom in [M(SCNEt)] facilitate the formation of metal-involving and conventional noncovalent bonds. The presence a heavier metal center results in a more negative electrostatic potential and a larger nucleophilicity, which in turn leads to the formation of stronger metal-involving noncovalent bonds than those formed by a lighter metal center.

The ML cage, self-assembling from six Pd(II) or Pt(II) 90-degree blocks and four triazine-cored triangular ligands, has an effective hydrophobic cavity of about 450 Å capable of encapsulating one or more small molecules. Here, from the same components, we successfully constructed an ML cage with an internal volume expanded to 1540 Å via the self-assembly of an ML precursor using pillar[5]arene as a template. This cage retains the high molecular recognition ability of the ML cage while recognizing medium-sized guest molecules with molecular weights of up to ∼1600.
In this article, the synthesis of bis(phosphine), -PhPCHC(O)N(H)CHCHPPh- (1) (hereafter referred to as "PNHP" and its anionic form as "PNP") and its group 10 metal chemistry and catalytic studies are described. PNHP (1) on reaction with NiCl(DME) and PdCl(COD) afforded pincer complexes, [MCl{(PNP)κ-,,}] (M = Ni, 2; Pd, 3). A similar reaction of 1 with PtCl(COD) yielded a chelate complex, [PtCl{(PNHP)κ-,}] (4), which on further treatment with LiHMDS produced the 1,2-azaphospholene-phosphine complex, [PtCl(Ph){(-P(Ph)CHCONCHCHPPh-)κ-,}] (5) P-C/P-N bond metathesis.
