Introduction: Because antibiotic resistance is increasing worldwide and the leading cause of death in burn patients is an infection, an urgent need exists for nonantibiotic approaches to eliminate multidrug-resistant bacteria from burns to prevent their systemic dissemination and sepsis. We previously demonstrated the significant antibiofilm activity of a chitosan (CS) hydrogel containing the antimicrobial peptide epsilon-poly-l-lysine (EPL) against multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa using ex vivo porcine skin. In this study, we evaluated the in vivo antibacterial efficacy of a CS/EPL hydrogel against P.

The critical applications of difficult-to-machine Inconel 617 (IN617) compel the process to be accurate enough that the requirement of tight tolerances can be met. Electric discharge machining (EDM) is commonly engaged in its machining. However, the intrinsic issue of over/undercut in EDM complicates the achievement of accurately machined profiles.

A description of the process of metal evaporation from liquid alloys at an atmospheric pressure has a practical value for both the smelting and remelting of their scraps. The quantities of volatile components that are eliminated in these processes depend on many factors of which the type of melting device, the method and conditions of the process performance, the alloy composition and the kind of applied atmosphere are of the greatest importance. In this paper, the results of the research on zinc evaporation from brass scraps containing 10.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV)-2, the virus that causes the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19, is primarily transmitted through respiratory droplets which linger in enclosed spaces, often exacerbated by HVAC systems. Although research to improve HVAC handling of SARS-CoV-2 is progressing, currently installed HVAC systems cause problems because they recirculate air and use ineffective filters against virus. This paper details the process of developing a novel method of eliminating air pollutants and suspended pathogens in enclosed spaces using Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO) technology.

A biomaterial was created for hard tissue implanted scaffolds as a translational therapeutic approach. The existing biomaterials containing titanium dioxide filler posed a risk of oxygen gas vacancy. This will block the canaliculars, leading to a limit on the nutrient fluid supply.
