Background: The growing aging population has led to an increase in the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and osteoporosis (OP), both of which significantly impair quality of life. The comorbid nature of these conditions suggests a shared genetic etiology, the understanding of which is crucial for developing targeted therapies.
Objective: This study aims to explore the shared genetic etiology underlying AD and OP, using a system biology approach to identify potential therapeutic targets and natural compounds for treatment.

Background: Neuropsychiatric disorders are highly heritable and have overlapping genetic underpinnings. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the gene CACNA1C have been associated with several neuropsychiatric disorders, across multiple genome-wide association studies.
Method: A total of 70,711 subjects from 37 independent cohorts with 13 different neuropsychiatric disorders were meta-analyzed to identify overlap of disorder-associated SNPs within CACNA1C.

Background: Cardiac autonomic dysfunction (CADF) is a major contributor to increased cardiac mortality in schizophrenia patients. The aberrant function of voltage-gated ion channels, which are widely distributed in the brain and heart, may link schizophrenia and CADF. In search of channel-encoding genes that are associated with both CADF and schizophrenia, and are promising candidates.
