Sodium cyanate injected IP at a dose level of 200 or 250 mg/kg caused a 90% or greater inhibition of the incorporation of [3H]thymidine into DNA of B16 melanoma transplanted SC in mice. Despite the inhibitory effect of sodium cyanate on precursor incorporation into DNA, no significant effect on host survival was observed when sodium cyanate was administered as a single agent in the diet, in drinking water, or by IP injection to mice that had received IP transplants of B16 melanoma. The action of melphalan and 1-(2-chloroethyl)-3-cyclohexyl-1-nitrosourea (CCNU) in prolonging the survival time of melanoma-bearing mice was not enhanced by combined treatment with sodium cyanate. However, combined injections of sodium cyanate and 1,3-bis(2-chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea (BCNU) increased the survival of tumor-bearing mice significantly more than injections of BCNU alone at a lower dose than the maximum tolerated one. These data and other studies suggest that B16 melanoma may be less responsive to the action of sodium cyanate than are murine leukemic cells or rat hepatomas.

An organophosphorus -catalyzed method for the direct electrophilic cyanation of C(sp)-H nucleophiles with sodium cyanate (NaOCN) is reported. The catalytic deoxyfunctionalization of the OCN anion is enabled by the use of a small-ring phosphacyclic (phosphetane) catalyst in combination with a terminal hydrosilane O-atom acceptor and a malonate-derived bromenium donor. In situ spectroscopy under single-turnover conditions demonstrate that insoluble inorganic cyanate anion is activated by bromide displacement on a bromophosphonium catalytic intermediate to give a reactive N-bound isocyanatophosphonium ion, which delivers electrophilic "CN" equivalents to nucleophilic (hetero)arenes and alkenes with loss of a phosphine oxide.

In this work, a novel procedure for immobilization of phosphomolybdic acid (PMA) on Magnetic polycalix[4]resorcinarene grafted to chitosan by EDTA (calix-EDTA-Cs) was reported. The heterogeneous nanocomposite (CoFeO@calix-EDTA-Cs@PMA) was applied an acid nanocatalyst for the synthesis of 5-aroyl-NH-1,3-oxazolidine-2-ones through the reaction of α-epoxyketones with sodium cyanate (NaOCN) in polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a green solvent under ultrasonic irradiation conditions. Some features of this work include quick reaction time, high reaction yield, easy separation of the catalyst, thermal stability, and eco-friendly.

The title complex, [Au(NCO)(CHN)], was synthesized by ligand metathesis from [1,3-bis-(2,6-diiso-propyl-phen-yl)imidazol-2-yl-idene]gold(I) chloride and sodium cyanate in anhydrous tetra-hydro-furan and crystallized from toluene at 233 K in the ortho-rhom-bic space group 222, as a neutral complex with the central Au atom di-coordinated by an -heterocyclic carbene [Au-C = 1.963 (2) Å] and an iso-cyanate [Au-N 1.999 (2) Å] ligands, with a linear CAuNCO moiety.

Introduction: Carbamylation is a nonenzymatic post-translational modification of proteins characterized by the binding of isocyanic acid to amino groups of proteins, which leads to the alteration of their properties. An increase in serum carbamylation-derived products, including homocitrulline (HCit), has been shown to be associated with the development of cardiovascular diseases.
Methods: HCit was quantified by LC-MS/MS within extracts of aneurysmal and control human aortas.

Anion recognition through noncovalent interactions stands as an emerging field in supramolecular chemistry, exerting a profound influence on the regulation of biological functions. Herein, the thermodynamics of complexation between sodium cyanate (NaOCN) and calix[4]pyrrole was systematically investigated by linear and nonlinear IR spectroscopy, highlighting enthalpy changes as the dominant driving force. The overall orientational relaxation of bound anion can be described by an Arrhenius-type activated process, yielding an activation energy of 15.
