Graphene-based Ag nanocomposites are of specific interest because of their unique properties and applications, especially in the field of cytotoxicity. However, developing a simple method to synthesize reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/silver hexagonal nanoplate (Ag HNPT) (rGO-Ag HNPT) nanocomposites with well-defined morphology has been believed to be a major challenge. In this work, a facile, robust, and single-step synthesis method was developed to prepare silver-graphene (rGO-Ag HNPT) nanocomposites with hexagonal-structured silver nanoplates without any templates. The primary characterizations of the synthesized nanocomposite were done using a UV-visible spectrophotometer, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy. The formation of uniformed hexagonal-shaped Ag nanoplates was confirmed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and the elemental composition was confirmed using energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). With SiHa cervical cancer cells, the short-term cytotoxicity of the as-synthesized rGO-Ag HNPTs was evaluated by the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The anticancer response of the rGO-Ag HNPTs was investigated using an MTT assay.

Influenza A virus NS2 protein acts on vRNA-resident polymerase to drive the transcription to replication switch.

The heterotrimeric RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) of influenza A virus catalyzes viral RNA transcription (vRNA→mRNA) and replication (vRNA→cRNA→vRNA) by adopting different conformations. A switch from transcription to replication occurs at a relatively late stage of infection. We recently reported that the viral NS2 protein, expressed at later stages from a spliced transcript of the NS segment messenger RNA (mRNA), inhibits transcription, promotes replication and plays a key role in the transcription-to-replication switch.

Due to the straightforward single-step synthesis, amphiphilic gradient copoly(2-oxazoline)s are becoming more popular alternative to their block analogue for the development of next-generation drug delivery systems. Here, we investigated the influence of polymer architecture on the physiochemical and biological assessment of nanoformulations formed by the self-assembly of gradient copoly(2-oxazoline)s. Two different architectures were synthesized: hydrophilic-grad-hydrophobic (mono-gradient) and hydrophobic-grad-hydrophilic-grad-hydrophobic (di-gradient) which contained a hydrophilic monomer, 2-ethyl-2-oxazoline (EtOx) and a hydrophobic monomer, 2-phenyl-2-oxazoline (PhOx).

Resistant pathogens are increasingly posing a heightened risk to healthcare systems, leading to a growing concern due to the lack of effective antimicrobial treatments. This has prompted the adoption of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT), which eradicates microorganisms by generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) through the utilization of a photosensitizer, photons, and molecular oxygen. However, a challenge arises from the inherent characteristics of photosensitizers, including photobleaching, aggregation, and self-quenching.
