Published: June 2023

Background: Many countries have tried to establish an optimal model for managing population aging that can be replicated and promoted. With the increasing societal task of delivering care to older adults with chronic conditions, China has started to harness the power of digital technologies to help address the growing demands for eldercare. China is exploring a unique "Smart Eldercare" model to respond to the social service needs of older adults.

Methods: Using a Delphi method, this study highlights a hierachy of approaches and findings from a cognitive support tool for those with mild cognitive impairment.

Findings: From the central committee to local governments, the Chinese government has developed policies aimed at supporting the development of the Smart Eldercare service industry.

Interpretation: This viewpoint article sheds light on this development in health care services based on an onsite research investigation, which can potentially impact the Western Pacific region and beyond in years to come.

Funding: The Non-profit Central Research Institute Fund of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Grant No. 2021-JKCS-026.

Wearable Biodevices Based on Two-Dimensional Materials: From Flexible Sensors to Smart Integrated Systems.

Nanomicro Lett

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Bio-Inspired Smart Interfacial Science and Technology of Ministry of Education, School of Chemistry, Beihang University, Beijing, 100191, People's Republic of China.

The proliferation of wearable biodevices has boosted the development of soft, innovative, and multifunctional materials for human health monitoring. The integration of wearable sensors with intelligent systems is an overwhelming tendency, providing powerful tools for remote health monitoring and personal health management. Among many candidates, two-dimensional (2D) materials stand out due to several exotic mechanical, electrical, optical, and chemical properties that can be efficiently integrated into atomic-thin films.

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of utilizing artificial intelligence (AI)-predicted biparametric MRI (bpMRI) image features for predicting the aggressiveness of prostate cancer (PCa).

Materials And Methods: A total of 878 PCa patients from 4 hospitals were retrospectively collected, all of whom had pathological results after radical prostatectomy (RP). A pre-trained AI algorithm was used to select suspected PCa lesions and extract lesion features for model development.

This dataset is generated from real-time simulations conducted in MATLAB/Simscape, focusing on the impact of smart noise signals on battery energy storage systems (BESS). Using Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) agent known as Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO), noise signals in the form of subtle millivolt and milliampere variations are strategically created to represent realistic cases of False Data Injection Attacks (FDIA). These signals are designed to disrupt the State of Charge (SoC) and State of Health (SoH) estimation blocks within Unscented Kalman Filters (UKF).

Disruption of cholinesterases and, as a consequence, increased levels of acetylcholine lead to serious disturbances in the functioning of the nervous system, including death. The need for rapid administration of an antidote to restore esterase activity is critical, but practical implementation of this is often difficult. One promising solution may be the development of antidote delivery systems that will release the drug only when acetylcholine levels are elevated.
