We intended to investigate the potential of several transitional zone (TZ) volume-related variables for the detection of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) among lesions scored as Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) category 3. Between September 2018 and August 2023, patients who underwent mpMRI examination and scored as PI-RADS 3 were queried from our institution. The diagnostic performances of prostate-specific antigen density (PSAD), TZ-adjusted PSAD (TZPSAD), and TZ-ratio (TZ volume/whole gland prostate volume) were analyzed.

Are AI chatbots concordant with evidence-based cancer screening recommendations?

Patient Educ Couns

January 2025

Wiser Healthcare, Sydney School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney, Australia; The Daffodil Centre, The University of Sydney, a joint venture with Cancer Council NSW, NSW, Australia.

Objective: This study aimed to assess whether information from AI chatbots on benefits and harms of breast and prostate cancer screening were concordant with evidence-based cancer screening recommendations.

Methods: Seven unique prompts (four breast cancer; three prostate cancer) were presented to ChatGPT in March 2024. A total of 60 criteria (30 breast; 30 prostate) were used to assess the concordance of information.

Background: To investigative potential clinicopathological characteristics and imaging-related risk factors of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) undercategorized in patients with negative or equivocal MRI.

Methods: This retrospective study included 581 patients with pathologically confirmed csPCa (Gleason score ≥ 3 + 4), including 108 undercategorized csPCa and 473 detected csPCa. All patients underwent multiparametric MRI (mpMRI).

The synthesis of ()-1-(1,3-diphenylallyl)-1-1,2,4-triazoles and related compounds as anti-mitotic agents with activity in breast cancer was investigated. These compounds were designed as hybrids of the microtubule-targeting chalcones, indanones, and the aromatase inhibitor letrozole. : A panel of 29 compounds was synthesized and examined by a preliminary screening in estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR)-positive MCF-7 breast cancer cells together with cell cycle analysis and tubulin polymerization inhibition.

: Multiparametric-Magnetic Resonance Imaging(mp-MRI) presents the ability to detect clinically significant cancer, aiming to avoid biopsy if the results are negative or target an abnormal lesion if a suspected lesion of the prostate is found. Recent guidelines recommend the performance of 12 standard biopsies along with 3 to 5 targeted biopsies in suspected prostate lesions, depending on the size of the prostate lesion. In addition, prostate biopsy can be performed by either the transperineal or the transrectal approach.
